  • Why hello there. Don't let my username fool you.

    Hello there, Baptists.

    Some know me as HarvestmanMan, but you on these forums get the privilege (nay, the honor) of knowing me as John Calvin.

    Oh, and please ignore my interests as well. I'm serious about the Christian faith, but my interests apply to other religions...such as Mormonism.

    I'm Presbyterian, and I know I'm gonna get some flak for that. I don't believe that I am "atheist scum"; to say so would be the exact opposite of the truth.

    I'm 16 years old and a male. I've spent 10 years in 2 Catholic schools, and I am darned sick of their teachings. Transubstantiation in particular is one thing that I find impossible to believe.

    I'm against racism, discrimination on account of gender or age, or child selling or sacrifice. The first three are simply common sense, in my opinion; the last two are taking the Bible much too literally (some people refer to literal Bible-followers as "sheeple").

    From what these forums look like so far, the atmosphere is not exactly conducive to new Baptists or followers of other religions. Which I don't understand. After all, isn't a church a place where you can feel at peace with others and God?


    I hope it's OK if I speak out against threads like "WOMEN SHOULD NEVER LEAVE THE HOUSE!". If anyone doesn't like it, consult the principle of freedom of speech. I realize that no one might listen to me, but even so, I feel it is my duty to stand up for what I believe is right.

    Thanks for reading, if you stuck around that long, and I'll be the one who goes against the majority in these forums.

    First of all, this is NOT a debate forum. Please read THIS thread before making an even bigger fool of yourself.

    Secondly, while the internets might seem to be "free" to you, this particular corner of the internets is a privately owned Christian forum. The rights you have on this forum are listed HERE. Please contact a Pastor immediately if you feel that any of your rights have been violated.

    Finally, your unsaved opinions or tantrums are not even slightly of interest to us. We follow the Holy Word of God TO THE LETTER, and make no apologies for that. One of the most important commandments in the Bible tells us to avoid unsaved scum such as yourself. You wandered in here uninvited, and unwelcome.

    I will pray that the Holy Spirit enter you and chase the demons out of your rectum and let Jesus fill you with His Grace. If you use your God-given free will to reject Christ and His temporary death on the cross for my sins, then you are sending yourself to hellfire.

      3. Oh, believe me, He has. Just because I'm of a different faith doesn't mean that I don't believe in Jesus; in fact, it is quite the opposite. I haven't rejected Christ in any way, shape, or form.

      Apparently, the fact that I'm not of the Baptist faith means that I don't believe in Jesus. How odd. Last time I checked, I believed that He died on the cross for my sins.

        Sure it is, but we are very selective of who is allowed in our church.

        Friend, we are True Christians(tm), we follow the Bible how it is meant to be followed, by living every word. If you have something to say about a thread, why not post scripture which supports you?

        Freedom of speech is a nice idea buddy, but GOD says women should be silent in the presence of men, so that's what they should be. (1 Timothy 2:12)

        By being a presbitrayan you are following a false cult, you can read more about this in the Church Forums.

        Because GOD doesn't love everyone. Too many people have this absurd idea in their heads that GOD is all loving.
        If he was all loving, then murderers, thieves and homosexuals would be waiting for you in Heaven.

            Who said I was ignoring or rejecting the Bible?! I read the Bible quite often; however, I believe that literally acting upon everything in it is taking Scripture MUCH too far.

            Also, kindly refer me to the "simple scripture" that I am apparently ignoring.

              The fact of the matter is, you need to follow all scripture and act in accordance with it. God really can't stress this point enough.

              "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all." James 2:10

              Think about that verse for a minute. Let's say somebody follows almost every commandment, yet they m*sturbate. Sure, they've arguably led a "pretty good" life, and maybe they've "mostly" done the Lord's work, but it doesn't matter. They failed to follow all of God's law, and in His eye's, they're just as bad as an unrepentant serial rapist.

              Tell me friend, do you understand the importance of following all of the Bible now?
              "Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.                 Calvin was absolutely right. Predestination, Perserverance of the Saints, Total Depravity (though some of us take the Arministic view ), Irresistible Grace, Unlimited Atonement (though some of us believe in limited atonement.)

                How literally should it be taken? Jesus wasn't literally born of a virgin? He wasn't literally risen from the grave? He didn't literally have a conversation with Satan? He didn't literally cast demons out?

                Where does the literal God intersect with being labeled a "sheeple"?

                Besides, being a "sheep" is what gets you to Heaven. Being a goat gets you to hell.

                    I still don't understand why you refer to Christians of faiths other than yours as "false sissy Christians" and "scum". Seems awfully closed-minded to me, not to mention self-centered.

                    What's the deal with this? Do you not believe that any other faiths are Christian besides your own?

                      We believe that a True Christian follows 100% of the Bible

                      A false Christian picks and chooses what they want to follow (see Westboro)
                      A fuzzy bunny Christian takes whiteout to their Bible and completely ignores the parts they find uncomfortable.

                      So although all fuzzy bunny Christians are false, not all false Christians are fuzzy bunny.

                        What a ridiculous question! If I wrongly believed that it was right to pray to Mary, then I could hardly call myself a True Christian™. Please, this has been asked and answered ad infinitum on this board over the years!

                          I for one am glad that you wish to speak out against such threads like 'WOMEN SHOULD NEVER LEAVE THE HOUSE!' etc. etc. The freedom and rights of females is important, and I'm sure the bible agrees if you take a look at feminist readings of various important Biblical women

                              Exactly which "feminist readings of various important Biblical women" would they be? What is your Biblical expertise to know they are right? Besides he is a boy. How do you expect him to understand all that girl gibberish anyway, let alone dissertations on eschatology, hermeneutics, exegesis, eclecticism, stemmatics, cladistics, postmodernism, etc. by the weaker gender when men can barely understand women’s nonsense?
