Hello there, Baptists.
Some know me as HarvestmanMan, but you on these forums get the privilege (nay, the honor) of knowing me as John Calvin.
Oh, and please ignore my interests as well. I'm serious about the Christian faith, but my interests apply to other religions...such as Mormonism.
I'm Presbyterian, and I know I'm gonna get some flak for that. I don't believe that I am "atheist scum"; to say so would be the exact opposite of the truth.
I'm 16 years old and a male. I've spent 10 years in 2 Catholic schools, and I am darned sick of their teachings. Transubstantiation in particular is one thing that I find impossible to believe.
I'm against racism, discrimination on account of gender or age, or child selling or sacrifice. The first three are simply common sense, in my opinion; the last two are taking the Bible much too literally (some people refer to literal Bible-followers as "sheeple").
From what these forums look like so far, the atmosphere is not exactly conducive to new Baptists or followers of other religions. Which I don't understand. After all, isn't a church a place where you can feel at peace with others and God?
I hope it's OK if I speak out against threads like "WOMEN SHOULD NEVER LEAVE THE HOUSE!". If anyone doesn't like it, consult the principle of freedom of speech. I realize that no one might listen to me, but even so, I feel it is my duty to stand up for what I believe is right.
Thanks for reading, if you stuck around that long, and I'll be the one who goes against the majority in these forums.
John Calvin (Jesus isn't the only one whose initials are J.C.!)
