The Texas GOP is trying to protect the sanctity of marriage and the safety of our children. Introducing subject matter totally unrelated is a disservice of those of us discussing the important issue of the thread.

How does allowing gay couples the right to marry hurt your marriage? Is your relationship with your spouse so frail and tenouous that it can be irreparably damaged by other people exchanging vows and rings?

I know several married same-sex couples, and their marriages haven't harmed my own in the slightest.

How so? Does heterosexual marriage create a legal mandate that all men and all women must engage in heterosexual sex, whether the want to or not? No, it doesn't.
Sex, gay or straight, isn't mandatory for anyone, and never will be.

Homersexurality is a social cancer, like AIDS or lung cancer. Homers arise because of bad parenting and subliminal satanic messages in the liberal media. Then they indoctrinate others into the gay lifestyle through rape and ritual abuse. They want more rights because they are power hungry, carpet munchers and analsexaholics who want to deceive the world into rejecting Christ and burning in Hell out of sheer sadism and envy.

You have the right to marry the consenitng adult to whom you are romantically attracted. They do not.

By virtue of marriage, your spouse and any children you may produce or adopt are protected from losing their property and each other in the event of your death. Your spouse has the right to give consent for you to receive treatment at a hospital if you are unable to speak for yourself. Gay couples have none of these protections.

If a hetero couple get married in the Netherlands or in Massachusetts, and move to Louisiana, they are considered married in Louisiana, with all the rights and pirvileges accorded to married couples. Gay couples who are legally married in the Netherlands or in Massachsuetts and move to Louisiana are s-o-l as far as having any rights as a married couple.
