When I turn my porch light on at night, it's light right in front of the house. But when I walk a mile away, I can't see the light anymore. Same thing with the sun, during the day, it's close, and it's very far away at night.

Yes, you do eventually arrive in exactly the same spot, but for a completely different reason. You think you're going in a straight line, but God sends an angel to push you ever so slightly throughout your journey, so that you in fact travel in a circle. That's how he keeps us from falling off the edge. This is known as the Coriolis force, named after the angel Coriol who does the actual pushing.
You can photoshop just about anything, that only proves that you have photoimaging software on your computer.
It looks flat to me. You might want to get your vision checked.
