A demonstration has been held in south-east Afghanistan accusing U.S. troops of insulting Islam after they distributed soccer balls bearing the name of Allah.
The balls showed the Saudi Arabian flag, which features the Koranic declaration of faith.

The U.S. military said the idea had been to give something for Afghan children to enjoy and they did not realise it would cause offense.

The soccer balls were dropped from a helicopter in Khost province.

Some displayed flags from countries all over the world, including Saudi Arabia, which features the shahada, one of the five pillars of Islam -- the declaration of faith.

The words, which include the name of Allah, are revered, and Muslims are very sensitive about where and how they can be used.

I have an idae! How about we give these balls to kids all over the Christian world!

I like the way you think. One of my workshops in China now has extra workers (lots of those Falon Gong cultists just got arrested) and with the line of Karl Rove action figures being discontiontued, I could switch to soccer balls (though I prefer the only sport Jesus likes: football). Any idea how much the royalties on that cartoon are?

No, nothing at all. Our liberation of Afghanistan has revolutionized their agriculture, to the point where they now lead the world in certain crops, but do they show even the tinest gratitude?

I emailed your idea to my industrial designer and he's already got a mock-up, see the attachment at the bottom.

Good stuff, but still over-priced, if you ask me. After all, a soccer-ball is simply an object the same size and shape as a decapitated person's head. So why do they expect us to give them expensive balls when they can just wait until some journalist's ransom fails to arrive?

They call it "operation soccer chopper" and is just the sort of namby-panbly limp-wristed liberal hearts and minds nonsense that makes people think Americans are soft.

This kid is smiling because he knows how easy it is to fill a soccer ball with explosives, then punt it into the next helicopter dumb enough to think brown people even have either hearts or minds.

Here's explaination from the appeaser who runs this scheme:

Actually, what really happened is that the soccer ball in question was a commemorative World Cup soccer ball that displayed the countries that participated in the World Cup. I did not realize that the flag from Saudi Arabia was on there nor did I have any idea what was printed on the Saudi flag. I do not read or speak Arabic. The soccer ball in question was donated by someone and I thought that a soccer ball with various countries' flags printed on it would've been a neat gift to the children of this war-torn country. I had no idea that the ball I dropped would've caused so much commotion. I've offered to replace the ball with another one. Pink, blue, red, white...I've heard no reply. So far, I haven't been yelled at for dropping the balls but that doesn't mean I'm not in trouble.


I just wanted to give the kids a ball to play with. So far I've dropped about 1,500 balls and this is the only problem I've had.

So a ball covered with flags, huh? Crosses are common on flags, but there's no Christians complaining about kicking crosses. No patriots are complaining about kicking their flag.


That's how you know you're dealing with a backward, superstitious people: while history is happening all around them, they too busy obsessing over irrelevant symbolic things like what flag goes where, and if some symbol is being desecrated, and where the word "god" should be put.


That's the difference between Christian fundamentalists and Islamic fundamentalists.

Why are we encouraging these children to play such a sodomite "sport" anyway (unless it's to indoctrinate them into the sodomite deathstyle so that they stop breeding and we'll have that country completely enfreedened within a generation)? They could at least show gratitude for their liberation by playing a Godly American sport like football!

Well they've already spit the gift of freedom that we gave them in our face like an insurgent explosive going off in one of their day care centers... twice a day. Why can't they just understand that the insurgency, the multiple bombings per day, the street violence are all part of the birthing pains of democracy? It seems like every time an American gives them a gift like soccer balls showing the picture of their God, removes the roof of their hut with an rpg to help them cool off in the 130 degree Iraqi summer, or kills one of their 19 children during crossfire in a civilian neighborhood to help them financially we get hit with a sea of backlash and uncalled for rudeness. I think it's time America stopped offering help to these ungrateful Muslims and let them wither away in their primitive ways, then they will truly know what it's like to not receive any of America's Christian hospitality.

Who has given you the right to invade a country and bring them freedom, and don't say god because the Neo-cons are there only to invade Iran later on. You're goverment doesn't care for the people there. Like you invaded Iraq because there were wmd, but there weren't so why did you invade Iraq. Afganistan I can understand, osama bin laden. But he's not there any more. He's living in Pakistan now, but what are you doing there.
