I like our system over here, it feels like we are sticking together and I would rather an a red-hot iron spike driven through my chest, heart, intestines than change it for what you got.

And I don't consider myself communist, I don't idolize Mao or Stalin or whatever, in fact we don't ever use the word communist over here, and the communist parties here are exceedingly small and not represented in our equivalent of the Congress, though we have some racist ones which are shaming us all with their lewd comments and lack of concern for others..

ps. Those aren't devil horns, which would be goat horns, those are cow horns, and what the vikings used to wear traditionally, on their helmets. The Minnesota Vikings pay tribute to that, it's a symbol of manliness, in the sense it shows strength and brawn.

The whole horn things comes from the fact, that in the Bible, there is often used the contrast between sheep, which are obedient (to God in metaphor) and goats, who are more disobedient (to God in metaphor) so the devil was given horns in popular imagery to make use of that and show the images biblical relevancy in explaining spiritual matters, something like that anyway.

The reason the vikings wore bull's horns on their heads was because it gave them the impression of being charging bulls and at the time, in Europe, a bull was about the most fearsome animal. Indians have used bear tooths to decorate themselves, Mayans have used jaguar pelts to show manliness, etc, I suspect fishermen use shark's teeth to the same effect, in third world countries.

It's about sending a symbolic gesture, in this case, a horse's mane, because a horse is a strong animal, as a brush, as a symbol of discipline and rectitude, that's my first thoughts anyway, you can find history books that will explain it better and use sources from the time. By the way, there is a Roman centurion mentioned in the Bible, he would have had something like that, and Jesus would have known about it. It's all tied together. History and faith.

Growing up as a kid you probably imagined yourself at one point or another as a marauding Viking warrior. Of course, naturally you had your impressive horned helmet carried into battle as well. What do you do when he misbehaves? Since you are a True Christian and yet misbehaves I am sure your husband, or at least some husbands, do the same. What do the wives do then?

Second, I'm sorry he beats you. But you don't see it that way. To you it is correction. But still you recognize there is something like abuse. For me it is a bit confusing.

Can I ask, why do you misbehave? You mentioned not wanting to give over control of the household? Can't you just work on that? Isn't that preferable to getting beat? I also am not sure I understand, you want control of the household, I thought you shared it with your husband and you worked for each other?

I wouldn't slap anybody for that, I find that when someone is misbehaving you can often say something that will make them behave, remind them of their place.

People from the faroe islands have always been drawn to shiny or colorful objects, like this birds beak. So it's possible that the head piece on the picture is something they wore on friday night for their ceremonial throwing-rocks-at-the-moon gatherings.
