    Hi there friends

I am originally from Spain, now studying for phd in England. I am interested in comparative religion. I know the Landover church is said to be protestant extremist, but I am catholic. But still I hope we can have constructive conversations about what we believe and maybe we will find we will have more in common than things that separate us!

My phd thesis is about protestant misunderstanding and misconceptions of catholic beliefs, so I am hoping perhaps I can be of assistance in things about the catholic church that you do not understand.
Immaculate Virgin, Mother of Jesus and our Mother, we believe in your triumphant assumption into heaven where the angels and saints acclaim you as Queen. BTW, the Queen of Heaven is totally a Christian idea that's supported by the Bible and not just something we stole off the pagans, honest guv'nor. We join them in praising you and bless, oh Goddess, who is above all creatures. Including Jesus. Us Mary-worshippers are pretty blasphemous, in case anyone hadn't noticed. With them we offer you alone our devotion and love.

    Re: Hi there friends

There's nothing "extreme" about us. We simply follow all of the Bible. Your typical "moderate" or as we like to call it, "fluffy bunny false Christian" is a person who has the audacity to pick and choose from God's Word on what to follow. Applying this mindset to other fields can be dangerous as well.

Would you fly in an airplane piloted by a man who picks and chooses which safety standards to follow?

Tell me, as part of your PHD, what classes did you take?

I'm not buying this so far, but if you want to copy and paste endless walls of catholic propaganda, you will not last.

If you have something new and complete scholarly resources to share with us, you will always have a place with us.

I highly respect smart apologists with original material. However, we will give you all you can handle. We have heard many many arguments repeatedly and we know all the counter arguments.
Christians are superior because we possess an understanding that unbelievers lack. It is through the Power of Jesus only the converted mind is able to understand what is going on in the world; what the Communists are really up to; what Satan's intentions are. Most unbelievers do not even believe in Satan and cannot understand his tactics.

Yes friends but my response would be this: given there are so many interpretations, how do you agree which one is the right one without the tradition of the church to assist you?

            Re: Hi there friends

But why would we need the Church to interpret it for us? The Bible is laid out plain and simple.

2nd Peter 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

You would suggest that the we follow the Church which privately interprets Scripture, which is what the Bible explicitly warns us about. Furthermore, the Church acts as a medium between people and Jesus Christ, which is further heresy...

As we can see here, Christ tells us that our one true master is Himself and not the Pope, and makes a point not to call anyone else "Father", aka a priest (and "pope" means "father", by the way).

Matthew 23:8 But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren.
Matthew 23:9 And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

We do not need the Church to act as a bridge. We do not need to pray to Mary nor engage in confession to human priests.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

            1st Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
1st Timothy 2:6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
            man cometh unto the Father,

Simply put, the Church is a heretical institution that seeks to create a gulf between man and his relationship with Jesus Christ. It makes as much sense as marrying a woman, but carrying your relationship with another man by proxy, and even sleeping with him and thinking you are sleeping with your wife.

Once again I see many complexities here. There are many scriptures, the context of which need to be explained to you. I can do this, but probably here in the introduction thread is not the best place.

Hey I like the 'smilies' at the side of the page! But what about this one:

We believe the KJV1611 bible. We do not interpret it. We take it as gospel as it is written.

Unlike Catlicks we only worship one God. We believe in the Trinity of God the father, God the son and God the Holy Spirit but they are all the one God.

We do not need or want a seperate god for travel as you do with Saint Christopher. Nor do we talk to our God through Mary. After all, she was really only a surrogate incubator for the dear baby Jesus.

I doubt we have much in common with catholisism so it is unlikely you will get any info for your thesis here. Maybe a pagan site would be more appropriate for you as they have much more in common with the catlicks.
                          2 Chronicles 7:14
14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land Australia.

I would throw the question back at you. Why would you study the Word so studiously when your church goes against scripture and doctrine? You have to do all these mental gymnastics to claim it doesn't.

The fact is, that the Catholic church is quite wrong often. The Bible is not inerrant either. It's all about your personal relationship with God.

Ok guys, thanks for your queries. My responses would be as follows:

                              1. Levi. Hi there. You saw fit to give me an infraction for failing to tell you about my phd? Ok, I will tell you a little about it. Phd programs in Europe are based on dissertations by research, not through classes. So I do not take classes, but my dissertation is entitled "Protestant Perceptions of Marian Devotions". It involves conducting semi-structured interviews with clergy and laity in protestant churches. So at the moment you see I am trying to finalize my questions, so I have been posting on websites like yours to help my do that.

                              2. Rev. Jim, hi. There are too many issues in your posting that require unpacking. But I can assure you all the teachings of the church are in accordance with scripture. If you wish to start a separate discussion about any one particular tract of gospel that troubles you, please do so and I shall respond.

                              2. Charli, hi there. We worship one God to, the one and the same as you do!

                              3. To Samuel. Hi Samuel. To be a catholic does not require any mental gymnastics my friend. The teachings of the church are very much in accordance with scripture.
