The economy is doing FINE by historical standards!

I'm considered around here to be a bit of an economics expert* and I'm sick and tired of out-of-touch blue-collar types scratching their visible buttcracks and claiming that Bush's economy is the worst ever. Not true! I'm going to show you some economic data that proves that, in every category, the economy has been worse at some particular point of history.

*(I was going to write "economics guru" or "economics wiz" but of course the Bible demands that gurus and wizards be put to death, so I'll settle with "expert".)

Oil prices:




See, it's not the worst ever. A barrel cost a whole dollar more during the 70's oil crisis. So QUIT YOUR WHINING!

See, we were something like 20% more broke after World War 2. And that was just a little skirmish against a bunch of barely-armed amateurs, when compared to the dire threat we face from the near-invincible legions of the Islamofascist empire. So, QUIT YOUR WHINING!

Bush Jr. is NOT the biggest spending president of all time. Notice how the debt was rising much faster under Bush's father, Bush Senior. So, QUIT YOUR WHINING!

I stopped whining about this a long time ago. Repetitive negative lamentations about a controversial subject is sure to inhibit proper social awareness. There is lots of data to process, and there are sure to be many positives when relating to the Bush economy. I can't even name all the great things Bush has done for me, personally. If it wasn't for the Republicans, the estate death tax threshold would have likely fallen. With Democrats in charge you can be sure that our country would be far worse off, with spiraling taxes and spending and free mortgages for everybody. You can be sure that Bush pas prevented the complete collapse and failure of the US ecoomy.

I can remember when that Demoncrat Lyndon Johnson was president and there was the debate over the cost of the Vietnam War and whether we could afford "Guns and Butter". Jesus and GWB has blessed this economy with enormous economic growth so that we can easily afford the 100 year war on Islamic terrorism.

Jeb. Your total debt chart is utterly worthless as it doesn't account for inflation. A million in debt for Truman is much more difficult to repay and purchased a lot more than a million for Clinton. You can almost compare presidents to their immediate neighbors but even then you're likely looking at a 15-30% difference in prices between the start of a president's first term and the end of his second.

I'll have to congratulate you on managing to find that GW Bush's economic situation is better than the Great Depression and the Oil Embargo if you look at one particular measure. Thats like saying WWII was better for Europe than the Bubonic Plague; it still doesn't mean that either of them were good.


Anyway, onto economic analysis, I predict a 99.99% chance that the Republicans will continue whining about the Democrats raising taxes until they are back in the White House and Congress and then the Democrats will start whining about the Republicans raising the debt. Does that seem to be a fair prediction from your economic experience Jeb?

The economy in this country has never been better. I have increased my profits by cutting all those pricey American jobs-- most of them held by lazy idiot minorities-- and buying more Asian children to work in my factories. The productivity is a little bit lower, but believe it or not you can make up the cost of the low productivity by cutting out one meal per day and making them work longer.

Those who complain about the economy don't know how it works. They're so ignorant that they probably haven't even taken their tax deductions for shipping jobs overseas!
