1st John 3:7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
1st John 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
1st John 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

Look at that first verse, number six. Those who abide in Christ do not sin. Those that sin are not Christians. The last verse, number nine, tells us those who are born of God (Christians) don't sin and can't sin either.
Ok my friend, You referred to verses 6 and 9. And I see how it appears by first glance. But I assure you, John is not referring to sinless perfection, b/c if it were, the population of Heaven would be 1...JC!

If youll look back at 1 John 1:8, it says 'If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.'

And 1 John 8:10 says 'If we say that we have not sinned, wee make him a liar, and his word is not in us.'

You see friend, I dont come here to argue with you nor anyone else, rather to point out that NONE of us are perfect and WE ALL need Christ in our lives! Apart from Christ we are nothing.

My Bible points out that John is speaking of habitual practice of known sinful acts. The true believers actions will conform to the character of his true father, God or Satan. The person born of God will reflect this in behavior. Dont take my word on this, in all seriousness...take God's own Word.

Both of these verses are referring to sin which is omnipresent in people before they are Saved by Jesus Christ. Verse 8 is a follow-up of the preceding verse which tells us Christ removes all sins from us.

1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Verse 8 is a warning of being so arrogant as to assume we have no sins already. We must acknowledge we are sinners and then the blood of Christ will remove the sin from us. That is what 1 John 1:7-8 are about.

Again, 1 John 1:10 (there is no 8th chapter in 1 John) is very similar to the preceding. It is referring to the sin before we are forgiven by Christ. Verse 9 also reaffirms that Christ forgives our sin.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Psalm 37:12-13 The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth. The LORD shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming.

God laughs at those who are going to Hell. Clear and simple.

Ok, obviously you take a literal view of the Bible. Many do, however, there are underlying analogies to be seen. What David is saying is that God will have the last 'laugh' so to speak. Not that God enjoys sending people to Hell.

1 John 4:8 'He that loveth not knoweth not God, for God is love.

1 John 4:16 'And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God and God in him.'

Knowing that God is love, lets look at what love is expressed as in the Word of God.

1 Corinthians 13:4-6 'Charity(or love) suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself(does not brag), in not puffed up(or arrogant).Doth not behave itself unseemingly(rudely); seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in truth.

Perhaps the most important part is underlined which says Love does not rejoice in iniquity, but in truth! If you then know that God is love, and know the defination of love as is in the Bible, you can see that God would not rejoice in sending anyone to Hell...because He is LOVE! He is also just...no question and does what He has to...but I dont believe He would rejoice in it.

Loving a neighbor is does not mean staying quiet until he dies and burns in Hell, as a matter of fact that is the opposite of loving.

I agree you should inform your brother/sister of their flaws...especially if they claim to be in the faith. That is what I have said since Ive been on here as to why I have come. To give a strong word of rebuke to many on this forum. I come here with only love in my heart. How have I sinned against anyone of you? I have been defending all I say with scripture, yet you simply dont want to take what I say to be the truth. You believe you know the truth, when in fact, you are terribly misled as to what the scripture is all about...from what I have read in many of your 'true christians' posts. It appears that you view 'sin' as disagreeing with what YOU believe to be the truth. I am guilty of that. I disagree with you on many things that I have seen while being on here. Which is why I am here to inform many of you.

Tell me then where it says the Psalm is an analogy like you claim. Granted, Christ used parables to illustrate a point but these are addressed to the reader as parables. When you start taking things in the Bible as a metaphor or analogy, you run the risk of a slippery slope. Does that mean the Genesis creation shouldn't be taken literally? What about Lev. 20:13 when it commands us to kill homosexuals...is that not literal either?

And it works both ways. How do you know the verses you quote me aren't meant to be taken literally? Maybe there's a meaning behind that that is not clear in the text alone?

And by what measure do you deem a Bible verse to be considered an analogy to one that should be understood directly and literally?

Surely you can see the problem of subjectively determining what Bible verses really mean. You either accept the Bible literally -- or you don't. Otherwise you are just twisting/misunderstanding/ignoring Scripture.

Finally, God is love, I agree. But God is also hatred. You are focusing only one side of God, whereas we True Christians™ acknowledge God for all that He truly is.

Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.

I'm not sure what church you go to, but they are putting misinformation into your head. I really hope you stick around here because you seem like a person who wants to know Christ more, but unfortunately have been fed a dinner plate full of lies. I can help you become a saved True Christian™. Tonight I will pray hard that your eyes open and you see the light.

Thank you for praying for me. And I will also for you. I truly appreciate it. And I will be the first to admit I dont understand the entire Bible. I dont understand how it perfectly works! I do believe it does, however. And I do believe that our society today is too focused on the secondary matters, rather than the primary matter. The primary matter at hand is how do you know that you are saved, how do you be humbled in knowing that you have been saved, how can you reach those that are not saved. To be honest, this has truly been enlightening for me as a Christian, b/c I have studied the Word abundently lately...something which I sometimes lack in. It has opened my eyes to how strong my Faith really is.

You asked how do I know the verses arent meant to be taken literally? I couldnt prove to you that they arent, but neither could you prove to me that they are. I can only follow what God has laid on my heart. I can only believe what God has opened my eyes to see. I was once without Christ, and I have since found Him. I have many disagreences with many people on this forum, but thats ok. And whats more is it makes us stronger Christians that we might research and back up our claims/beliefs w/the Bible!

I know that God is a vengeful and wrathful God, but I truly believe that God longs for all of us to turn to Him and surrender all to Him. Think about that for a moment...what it means to surrender all to Him...amazing to think about. I wish nothing but the best for this forum, that it would be uplifting and encouraging to people. Again, thank you for your prayers.

Re: Rev. Jim educates a misguided False Christian on the Bible

I am glad you have the honesty and humility to admit you don't understand all of the Bible. Many times false Christians get caught up into thinking they know everything about the Bible without actually studying it and that hinders them in learning more. With your modest attitude, I can see you endeavoring to understanding all of the Bible and thereby becoming a True Christian(tm) someday.

There are so many myths surrounding Christianity, that both non-believers and "believers" alike believe them. Our church aims to dispel these myths and present the Bible in all of its naked truthfulness as God intended. The Bible is the Word of God. It does not need to be stretched, distorted, ignored, twisted, or adapted. It is what it is, and people need to accept that.

Your intentions may be honest yes, but you are by definition a false Christian if you do not follow the Bible exactly 100%. If you pick and choose which verses to follow, or ignore the ones you don't like, or twist Scripture around so it means what you want it to mean, you are a false Christian. Contrast this with a True Christian™ who follows all of the Bible, word-for-word, and takes it as God intended it.

For example, passing judgment on Pastor Ezekiel for being "harsh" is not following the Bible. That is not righteous judgment. Or claiming that Christians keep sinning is tantamount to heresy. The Bible makes it clear that Christians do not sin, yet you are disagreeing with the Bible.

This is why I have taken time out of my busy schedule to help you overcome the lies you've been told. Your salvation is important to me and all of us at Landover Baptist. I want you to know more about the Bible. I want you to become a True Christian™.

Re: Rev. Jim educates a misguided False Christian on the Bible

Godly rebuking, Rev. Jim. Any chance this conversation could be moved to this guy's thread about how we are bound for hellfire? If it please the overseers, I believe he has questions to answer that he has so rudely ignored, while he has run roughshod over our godly forum.

If I may also add, the Word teaches once we are Saved, we are always Saved.

                      Ephesians 1:13-14

In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

                      Philippians 1:6
Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

The Word also says that only those that are called will be Saved.

                      Romans 8:28-39
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

                      We're better than regular people.

Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.
Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
                      As it is written,

You ready to die for Jesus? I know I am!

For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Then there is John 10:27-30 to further True Christian™ facts about our permanent salvation.

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
I and my Father are one.

                      John 5:24
Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life

How could we not be Saved if we do not come into judgment?

To add to your flimsy 1 John argument, The Book also says in Chapter 2 Verse 9.

They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.

As you can clearly see, if they had ever been "one of us," they never would have left in the first place.

The only people you have rebuked are True Christians. Because they are True Christians it is impossible for them to sin.
1 John 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
You should only rebuke people if they are sinners, there is nothing in the Scripture to support your assertion that anyone can be rebuked, just because (as you admit) you don't understand the Bible.

If you believe any part of the bible then you should also believe this part. Add to that the fact that anything that is not to be taken literally is clearly marked as being a parable or allegory. Together this results in a simple truth: without interpretation there cannot be any disagreement, as we all follow the same literal meaning of the Holy Word.

Levi, I completely agree with once saved always saved. However, I also believe the devil is a master deceiver. If you believe yourself to be saved, and in fact you are not truly saved, as you said, then the devil has nothing to worry about with you. You can quote all the scripture you want, but God knows your heart. I spoke with Jim about what love is and how it looks and defining features. Honestly, I have seen very little displayed here on this site. More people jump to calling people 'unsaved trash' than listening to anything anyone new has to say.

I have quoted scripture to back up everything I have said. If you dont want to listen or turn a deaf ear to my information, I suppose that is your choice. But I would examine what I was telling you if I were you, rather than just write it off as gibberish. That is an arrogant thing to do. And again, love is not arrogant!

You say my 1 John argument is 'flimsy'? Uh, ok. I guess you are calling the Bible a 'flimsy' book then. Anyhow, Im done arguing. I have said what I have come here to say. I have demonstrated my peace and my rebuke alike. And again, I do not need, nor does anyone need, THIS CHURCHES little trademarked 'true christian' stamp of approval to know that I am a true child of God. I know my life and what Ive been through. I know the personal experiences I have had. And you know me not. And if you know me not, then you may judge me not. I pray that you all would come to realize what love really is. And what has been done for you. Not so you would be so blazingly arrogant about it. Humble Yourselves! I pray so hard that God will yet open your eyes to His unyielding mercy, and His UNCONDITIONAL love. He is the beginning and the end! Praise be to God for that. God bless.

Ok...but to believe what you are saying is to say that the Bible contradicts itself. Because in 1 John 1:8 it says...again...'If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.'

So if what you say is true, then I guess the Bible simply contradicts itself...in the short span of 3 chapters...unless....John is talking about living in constant, habitual sin...never changing, never conforming to the heart of God. Just the same person you have always been except for the fact that you said a prayer once asking Jesus into your heart. To believe what you say to be true, to me, is mind-boggling.

For some reason the Devil has caused you to only want to see contradictions in the Bible.
May you be a blessing to every life you touch.
