    Re: God HATES Rational Thinking!

Relevant verses of Scripture have been pointed out already. I will leave you with another.

    I Timothy 6:19-20
O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:
Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.

Can you back up your assertions with Scripture?
    II Thessalonians 1:7-9
And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power

The man who is being progressively sanctified will inescapably sanctify his home, school, politics, economics, science, and all things else by understanding and interpreting all things in terms of the Word of God and by bringing all things under the Dominion of Christ the King. -R.J. Rushdoony

I think that through learning about the way the world works, we can further appreciate it's complexity. I mean, studying photosynthesis, quantum mechanics or Newton's Laws of Motion can't possibly be harmful, it's just revealing the wonders that God has given us.
Why even bother to question what God has created. There is no point in trying to discover what God has created. Do you pull apart your new television to see how it works?
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth
Proverbs 19:25 Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, and he will understand knowledge.
Ezekiel 16:14 And thy renown went forth among the heathen for thy beauty: for it was perfect through my comeliness, which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord GOD.
Proverbs 6:25 Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.
Genesis 24:16 And the damsel was very fair to look upon, a virgin, neither had any man known her: and she went down to the well, and filled her pitcher, and came up.

If there weren't curious people out there, people who want to learn about the nature of God's world, you wouldn't have a television.

Personally I don't have television. Why do I need that sort of garbage being pumped into my home so my kids can be soft little useless couch potatoes?

Of course we would have still have television. God gives people the ability to create something. Just because God did not speak to a person directly does not mean He did not give them the idea.

              God invented it.

9The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.
10Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us.
Christians are superior because we possess an understanding that unbelievers lack. It is through the Power of Jesus only the converted mind is able to understand what is going on in the world; what the Communists are really up to; what Satan's intentions are. Most unbelievers do not even believe in Satan and cannot understand his tactics.

Well, yes, but it still involved learning about photon refraction and radio waves. A person didn't suddenly know how to build a television because God gave them the idea. Instead, God probably inspired him to take university courses in physics and engineering. From there, God would have inspired him to experiment with what he learned to invent something new. All inventions require people to learn about how God's world works, and put pieces together to create the modern technology we have today.

In summary, all the of the modern medicine, electronics etc. that we have today wouldn't exist if people hadn't decided to explore and learn about nature, and the world.

God will still assist someone to create something even if they do not have that knowledge. People have created things without going to university to study that one area.

                  I would like to point out to you the story of Babel and how God saw things;

                  Genesis 11:6-9
6 And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.
7 Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.
8 So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.
9 Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.

I would advise you to read the whole section.

I don't understand why I received an infraction for my previous post.

If we didn't learn about how God created nature, then we couldn't build bridges, engineer cars or essentially have any of the nice privileges we have today. People don't just "know" how to invent these things. There are physically laws that must be understood. God did an amazing job when he created the universe perfectly, with comprehensible constants that make our understanding possible. Why is it wrong to appreciate God, and use the wisdom and tools He has given us to make our lives better? or to worship him better?

If this was so, then why has no one discovered how the pyramids and the sphinx was built without modern equipment.

Pardon my misuse of words. Replace "learning how God created the universe" with "understanding the properties of the universe God created."

People do mostly understand how the pyramid and sphinx were constructed. I'm not an expert in the subject, but the blocks were moved with sleds and ramps. Also, the Egyptians believed in their own polytheist religion, unless you are suggesting Amun, or Ra helped them construct the pyramids.

I can't ask Noah how he built the ark, but I'm certain that if you researched asked any of today's leading inventors they would be well educated individuals who spent a lot of time understanding the process of how their inventions work.

God made electrons. Electrical current is electrons flowing through circuits. Light bulbs work using this. Is that really that bad?

Force is mass times acceleration. To make bridges sturdy, civil engineers apply this equation to make sure they won't collapse under too much weight.

                          Understanding God's creation helps us.

Sure, that's fine. However, this thread seems to be against science as a whole. I'm saying that if we didn't embrace this knowledge, then we would be ignoring God's guidance.

Science isn't evil. I was contradicted early by someone who told me that there was no reason to learn how the world works. This is what I am arguing against. There's always room for learning.
