  • How does one put on a "bowel of mercy"?

I was about to question a prospective member about his use of the word "humbleness" as opposed to the more accepted "humility", when I searched the KJV to see if it appears there. It does, in Colossians 3:12, and is therefore quite correct for usage on these boards.

But another phrase in that verse, "Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;", raises the question: How does one "put on" a "bowel of mercy"?

If you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal LORD and Savior, and if the Holy Spirit dwelt within you as It dwells within me, you would understand that it is now what the Bible says that matters... It is what the Bible means. We take God's Word on faith, but you choose to wilfully ignore the obvious Truth. This is why Jesus spoke in parables.

    Matthew 13:13-16
Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.

That you do not understand how one puts on their bowels of mercies only illustrates the extent to which you are blinded to Truth, and the unfathomable depths of your lack of discernment in regard to God's Word. God works in mysterious ways, and without the Holy Spirit dwelling inside of us, we are to small to comprehend his True meaning. This is why the Holy Bible (KJV 1611) should always be read and understood under the guidance of a Saved® Christian. Otherwise, you will just get hung up on the small details that don't make sense to your deluded, sin-addled mind and will not focus on the larger message of Jesus' sacrifice on Calgary and His desire to have a personal relationship with you.

    I pity you.
    II Thessalonians 1:7-9
And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power

The man who is being progressively sanctified will inescapably sanctify his home, school, politics, economics, science, and all things else by understanding and interpreting all things in terms of the Word of God and by bringing all things under the Dominion of Christ the King. -R.J. Rushdoony

It means bowels full. How do you spell the plural of one bowl?
