Titles of Our Most Holy Father

As a babe in Christ and not yet True Christian I am wondering why Our Heavenly Father is referred to in the Holy Scriptures as The Lord of Hosts?

Will any of the righteously educated school me?

The title Lord of Hosts refers to God's warlike nature. He is commander of the hosts of heaven, the angels, who do battle with the devil and his angels (Rev 12:7). He led the ancient Israelite armies into battle.

Ex 15:3 The Lord is a man of war: the Lord is his name.

He is the commander of His saints who do spiritual warfare -- by lobbying politicians to enforce Biblical law, for example.

Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

    In His grip,

And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.

Ours is an angry god, stern and unyielding, cruel and yet just. Since the beginning, over 6,000 years ago, He has sent His armies to destroy those who oppose and anger Him.

Sometimes He leads a host and rains destruction on His enemies through corporal means. Other times, He sends bolts of lightning, tornadoes, earthquakes, volcano eruptions, pillars of fire, disease, pestilence, hurricanes, tsunamis, locusts and every other kind of plague.

A host is usually thought of as an army, but sometimes it is weathers, bugs and all kinds of terrors.

As Christians, we don't have to worry about the Lord of Hosts coming against us. God is on our side.

If god stand with us, who can stand against us?

Thou therefore. O Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel, awake to visit all the heathens: be not merciful to any wicked transgressors. Selah. Psalm 59:5
God judgeth the righteous, And God is angry with the wicked every day- Psalm 7:11
