  • The BACK TO SCHOOL "Best Things For School" Thread!

Solomon wrote that there are more important things than simply amassing knowledge. More important than knowing the 3 R's, or anything really, is knowing the importance of fearing God and obeying Him without reservation, without condition (Ecclesiastes 12:12-14). As Solomon was the wisest man that ever lived, we would do well to emulate him in our educational approach.

The Lord tells us that the basis of all true knowledge is through fear of Him (Proverbs 1:7). Jesus said that when we know the Truth, the Truth will make us free (John 8:32). The Truth is of course to "study to shew thyself approved unto God" (2 Timothy 2:15). In order for a child to learn how to present himself to God as one approved, for example as a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the Word of Truth, he must study with diligence the Word of God. The child must be made to understand that to fail to do that is to fail to be admitted into Heaven, as he will be forever seen by the LORD as a sinful, offensive, disgusting creature, no better than a pile of stench-filled bloody menstrual rags (Isaiah 64:6). Every child must learn the Ultimate Question: Where Will He Go When He Dies?

Schools can be spiritual battlegrounds for our children. They may be inundated with anti-Christian doctrine, relative morality, and scientific theories based on objective evidence rather than Biblical principles. In schools, children are exposed to evolution, witchcraft, psychology, homosexuality, and masturbation as the gateway "drug" to serial abortion. The Bible tells us to not be deceived however, that bad company corrupts good morals (1 Corinthians 15:33). The child who is well-versed in biblical principles will easily see the falsehood of these claims and may very well be used by God to counter the lies with His truth. Parents can help by arming their children with constant reminders of who watches over them all the time.

Whether you send your child off to be a missionary at their local public school, or you home educate them, you can give them constant reminders that Jesus is watching, and judging, their every move. You can use everyday school items to help keep your children on the straight and narrow!

Sisters, I am looking for some reading primers for homeschooling, that is, ABC books. Something like this:

Obviously, A is for Adam, B for baptism, C for cross and D for Deuteronomy. We all know J and G and H and S, Satan or SODOMY. I'm struggling with Q and W, perhaps Christian reading material would be available?

X is also a bit tough, isn't it?

        Nehemiah 2:1
And it came to pass in the month Nisan, in the twentieth year of Artaxerxes the king, that wine was before him: and I took up the wine, and gave it unto the king. Now I had not been beforetime sad in his presence.

        Yours in Christ,

This is a very timely thread. As a female, I could be very wrong in asking this question, but do these pictures and figures of Jesus break the commandment in Exodus 20:4? "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth"
"Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands." Proverbs 14:1

Q is for queers, children need it driven into them that the queer lifestyle is a ticket to Hell.

W, of course, is for the opposite of queer - the Godly and Manly George W Bush!

As far as X goes, my brain is stuck on xylophone and that doesn't really have any Christian connotations so I can't help you there.

I probably sound like a broken record, but this cannot be overly stressed:

CHICK TRACTS, CHICK TRACTS, CHICK TRACTS!!

I have no problem with the clear-cutting of vast swaths of primordial rainforest to keep the Chick Tract factories churning out pamphlets until the Second Coming...but for convenience sake, I highly recommended This Godly App. Now, with the push of a button, Christian students can spam friends and enemies alike with the Good Word in an easy-to-understand comic book format. Yes, this is very interesting. I am starting my career as a primary school teacher and I am very interested in the practices, how home schooling is being conducted and how schooling takes place in different parts of the world. You are showing blessed pictures and examples of items that a Christian child might be finding precious. Yes.

I do not wish to cause anger but I am telling how I was planning to do this. Blank white notebook covers. Each child can be decorating the covers with personal drawings or by doing some crafts with glue and stuff, yes? If the child is a Christian, I would not refuse a picture of Jesus but I do not think many children will be choosing that. I do not think I will be seeing a picture of Mahavira on the covers but it does not disturb me although Jainism is my religion. They are mostly doing footballs and animals. Yes. They are making their own roadmaps for the year to come, roadmaps on the things that interest them, perhaps, sometimes it is religion but not always. Blessed pictures for the blessed children. And the teacher can learn so much by examining what the child is choosing, yes. But your schools will of course follow your curricula.
                            "Ecclesiastes 3:7
A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak."
Yes. Women are saving lives. It is time we are speaking! Yes!
