Re: God (or possibly terrorists sent by Him) smite some famous French Catholic shack.

And, the is not yet finished with this temple of debauchery. Weather forecasters are predicting heavy rains for Paris this week, and there is now a concern that the weight of the water will cause further damage to the exposed vaulted ceiling (which is already waterlogged from the water that was used to douse flames.) People ignored the warnings of Noah, and we know what happened to those proud sinners. And now, the Cathyolicks could still face the wrath of as penalty for their ring-kissing idolatry!

A week after the cathedral was engulfed in flames, protective layers are being put in place.

Honestly, the French are just so negative (which is probably why they are so pathetic during wars). Can't they look on the bright side for once and just be grateful that this will put out any remaining smoldering bits among the ruins? If they're so worried about the ceiling, they should just put some plastic sheeting where the roof used to be.

This is so true, dear Sister Joanna! And they should just leave that plastic sheeting up there for good and forget about any other type of ceiling. But will they do that? No. They will insist on putting more stones up there, trying to fill in those gaping holes. Can you imagine those Frenchie fools trying to cement those rocks in place when the rest of the ceiling is sagging? Who on Earth puts up a stone ceiling in the first place? It's no wonder it fell down. I'm surprised it didn't fall down 850 years ago! A blessed day to you, Dear. Sincerely, Isabella W.

It seems that for the time being they are putting tarpaulins over it, but they have a more cunning plan for the future.

The covering will only be temporary, with plans to replace it with a more sturdy protective “umbrella”
I like the idea of this: Les Parapluies de Notre Dame would make a terrific art installation, or even a musical comedy.

Oh, pffft. Tarpaulins over that big place? Just wait until the wind starts flapping them against those fragile walls! Goodbye, Notre House of Idolatry! And did you notice all of those demons on the roof in the photo in the article?

Are you talking about the stone ones, or the fellows in metal helmets who are presumably intended to act as lightning conductors?

If the tarps don't take it down, the umbrella surely will take it up, Mary Poppins style. It's something to look forward to in these dark, pre-Rapture days.

That's not a good thing. The church is an artifact. Hopefully God puts a shield around it to protect it from further damage

Probably an allusion to the Biblical fact that God does not hear the prayers of sinners, so your expression of hope above is futile.

Btw: as an atheist taxpayer, I heartily endorse your idea to let God take care of His own damaged building! Let that billion+ dollars pledged so far be used much more effectively elsewhere (like actually accomplishing something that so much prayer has been thrown at, to NO effect, maybe ending war, poverty, a disease or three? spitballin' here, ideas welcome).

What takes us to the beginning again.

                          1) God sees it all, and is Almighty
                          2) God sees Notre Dame about to be set on fire
                          3) God chooses not to interfere, and let Notre Dame be set on fire

If God would have wanted so, Notre Dame would be perfect today. Or Donald Trump would have died of a heart attack while going up and down Stormy Daniels.

God wanted Notre Dame on fire and Donald Trump on the White House. Or are you saying He is not Almighty?
1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the TRUMP of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first.

Actually, after countless attempts to show that sinner the error of his ways, and to present the Love of our Savior to him, he repeatedly spat in the eyes of the by rejecting , and by constantly lying about various things. This grieved the so, and He told me to shake the dust off my feet as a testimony, and not to cast my pearls before swine, as I should devote my time to the many lost souls who hunger for the . The harvest is nigh, and it shall be plentiful! But as for that rebellious person, I'm afraid that my time with him has ended, sadly, and now his questions to me will be met by silence. Or, in this case, that which one encounters during a quiet evening at the summer cottage by the lake. A blessed day to you, Dear. Sincerely, Isabella W.

Has any one pointed that catholics are not in any sense Christians?

It's like saying a temple to Ganesh (elephant demon) is holy to Christians. It isn't. It wasn't built by Christians. It has nothing to do with Christianity.

Same, exactly the same, for Notre Dame.

On the subject of durable tarpaulins contributed by the international community, we do have a precedent. This is about the shortest clip I could find.
