Ireland’s lawmakers on Wednesday accused the Vatican of encouraging Roman Catholic bishops not to tell the police about priests who were suspected of being pedophiles and of flouting Irish law. The rare denunciation of the Unholy See’s influence in this predominantly Catholic country came just a week after the government issued a report accusing the Vatican of sabotaging Irish bishops’ 1996 decision to begin reporting suspected cases of child abuse to the police.

I herd that at the mass in ireland, the preist drinks a cup of whiskey instead of wine. But the micks are probly getting the "drunken enlightment" about the whole rome-cathylick thing. ROME — The Vatican recalled its ambassador to Ireland on Monday, citing reaction to a recent Irish government report that said the Vatican had discouraged efforts by bishops to report cases of sex abuse to the police.

A spokesman for the Vatican said the recall of the nuncio, Archbishop Giuseppe Leanza, was a rare move that “denoted the seriousness of the situation,” as well the Unholy See’s “will to deal with it with objectivity and determination.”

Of course, to the Roman institution, the situation that is serious is not the massive child abuse or the equally massive cover-up of same, but being called on it.

Pastor Isaac, I have a theory: I think the simpler explanation is the Irish police were about to arrest the Vatican ambassador for pedophilia and he high-tailed it out of there before they threw his sorry butt in "gaol."

Wouldn't be the first time the Vatican protected a kiddie-fiddler.

The real truth about what is happening here is that we've a massive national debt to the IMF now, as a result people are finding less and less money to get drunk with (I gave up the demon drink 3 months ago, not through lack of money but by Godly intervention - I've remained quite resillient to the current economic downtown here). As a result people are begining to sober up, for many it's the first time in several years.

With this sobriety the lord has opened thier eyes to the true evil of the papist dogs who used to rule Ireland with a whiskey bottle in one hand and a club in the other. Parents are starting to finally realise that Seminaries, convents, catholic schools and other papist institutions were nothing but rape factories, where nuns, priests and bishops raped little boys and girls. The Irish PM has finally sobered up too and lashed a scathing attack on the vatican in Parliament. Truly the lord works in mysterious ways.
