      In Milwaukee Post, Cardinal Authorized Paying Abusers

      Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan of New York authorized payments of as much as $20,000 to sexually abusive priests as an incentive for them to agree to dismissal from the priesthood when he was the archbishop of Milwaukee.

        Oh well, I could use an extra $20,000. Unfortunately I was not born with the equipment for abusing alter boys.

        Guess I'll just have to work hard and have faith in God.

            Convicted Pedophile Priest Claims the Vatican Had a Rentboy Ring
            Don Patrizio Poggi, a parish priest in Rome who served five years for sexually abusing teenage boys, has filed a complaint with Italian police alleging the existence of a Vatican "rent boy" ring.

            According to The Times of London, Poggi claims that a former officer of the Carabinieri, Italy's military police, served as the pimp:
            The former Carabinieri police officer pulled up outside a bar known as Twink — slang for a gay youth — next to Rome’s central station. He was driving a Fiat Panda marked “Emergency Blood” so he could easily park. There, he picked up Romanian immigrant “rent-boys”, some underage, for gay encounters with Catholic priests around Rome.

                Files Show Dolan Sought to Protect Church Assets
                Files released by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Milwaukee on Monday reveal that in 2007, Cardinal Timothy F. Dolan, then the archbishop there, requested permission from the Vatican to move nearly $57 million into a cemetery trust fund to protect the assets from victims of clergy sexual abuse who were demanding compensation.

                Cardinal Dolan, now the archbishop of New York, has emphatically denied seeking to shield church funds as the archbishop of Milwaukee from 2002 to 2009. He reiterated in a statement Monday that these were “old and discredited attacks.”

                However, the files contain a 2007 letter to the Vatican in which he explains that by transferring the assets, “I foresee an improved protection of these funds from any legal claim and liability.” The Vatican approved the request in five weeks, the files show.

                * * *

                But the documents lift the curtain on his role as a workaday church functionary concerned with safeguarding assets, persuading abusive priests to leave voluntarily in exchange for continued stipends and benefits, and complying with Rome’s sluggish canonical procedures for dismissing uncooperative priests who he had long concluded were remorseless and a serious risk to children. In one case, the Vatican took five years to remove a convicted sex offender from the priesthood.

                  Agreed!

                  With millions of clergy over the vast history of The Church there were, statistically speaking, going to be a few bad apples. We have worked tirelessly to weed out the few remaining miscreants and have full confidence that the very hands of Jesus guides each and every one of us as we minister to His flock.

                        Next up, we have a Priest from Pennsylvainnia found with a 15 year old boy, pantless, of course.

                        Police: Pennsylvania priest caught with pantless 15-year-old on college campus

                        (CNN) -- A Catholic priest in Pennsylvania has been charged with molesting a teenage boy after police said he was found in a car on a college campus with a 15-year-old who was wearing no pants, according to a police criminal complaint filed Friday in Lackawanna County.

                        The Rev. W. Jeffrey Paulish was charged with one felony count of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and one felony count of unlawful contact with a minor after Dunmore police say they found him and the boy on Thursday in a car on the Worthington Scranton campus of Penn State University, according to the complaint.

                        Paulish, 56, of Scranton, was also charged with three misdemeanor counts -- indecent contact with a person under 16, indecent exposure and corruption of a minor. He is being held at the Lackawanna County jail on $50,000 bail.

                        Dunmore police officers say they discovered Paulish and the boy after responding to a call of a suspicious vehicle, according to an arrest warrant affidavit filed with the court.

                        Allegedly Paulish told police he was at the campus working on his homily when he met the teen, who he said was in emotional distress, and began counseling him.

                        According to the affidavit, he later admitted to police that he had arranged the meeting with the teen through the "casual encounters" section of Craigslist. Paulish told investigators that he had asked the boy three times if he was over the age of 18, the affidavit said.

                        A telephone message left by CNN for Paulish's attorney, Bernard J. Brown, was not immediately returned Friday.

                        Paulish has been removed from his post at the Prince of Peace parish and has been suspended from acting in the capacity of a priest, according to a statement released by the Diocese of Scranton.

                        The diocese pledged its cooperation with the investigation, and it called on anyone who "may have been sexually abused by Father Paulish or any member of the clergy" to notify the district attorney's office.

                        "I wish to acknowledge how unsettling this is to me personally and to countless others, that yet again a priest has been involved in such inappropriate, immoral and illegal behavior," the Bishop of Scranton, the Rev. Joseph Bambera, said in the statement.

                          In the Twin Cities, the Roman institution has had its hands full covering up for kiddy-fiddling priests and sometimes even paying them off.

                          Abuse Allegations Leave Twin Cities Archdiocese In Turmoil

                          The Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis has been rocked in recent weeks by revelations from a top-level whistle-blower. The former official says church leaders covered up numerous cases of sexual misconduct by priests and even made special payments to pedophiles.

                          The scandal is notable not only because of the abuse but also because it happened in an archdiocese that claimed to be a national leader in dealing with the issue.

                          * * *

                          Back in Minnesota, [Archbishop Harry] Flynn assured the faithful that the worst problems lay elsewhere and this archdiocese wasn't going to cover up abuse.

                          Flynn retired in 2008 and was replaced by Archbishop John Nienstedt, who hired a young canon lawyer named Jennifer Haselberger to oversee church records.

                          * * *

                          She then discovered that some abusive priests got special payments, like the Rev. Robert Kapoun, who for 14 years received nearly $1,000 a month on top of his pension.

                          Kapoun retired in the late '90s after admitting in court that he sexually abused boys. He now lives in a half-million-dollar lake home. Because of his history of abuse, he's supposed to be carefully monitored.

                          * * *

                          Haselberger says that for her, one of the last straws came when a priest was arrested for and convicted of sexually abusing children.

                          Several years earlier, Haselberger had examined the lengthy file of that priest, Curtis Wehmeyer. Documents showed he had approached young men for sex in a bookstore.

                          Haselberger says she gave the information to Nienstedt. Soon after, he appointed Wehmeyer pastor of two parishes.

                          * * *

                          Nienstedt has declined to be interviewed on tape.
                          Let's see how Mr. Mo and the other resident Romanists spin this one.

                              Archbishop John Nienstedt has been accused of inappropriately touching a boy, and has removed himself from public ministry while the matter is investigated, the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis announced Tuesday.

                              The move comes after a young man alleged that Nienstedt touched his buttocks during a group photo session following a confirmation ceremony in 2009.

                                In Files, a History of Sexual Abuse by Priests in Chicago Archdiocese

                                Files released from the Archdiocese of Chicago are sure to shock even those who thought they knew about the depths of Romanist depravity.

                                Pastoral advisory: Please exercise caution before allowing women and children to read the following.

                                CHICAGO — One priest, the Rev. William J. Cloutier, was accused of raping a boy in his summer cottage, locking the door when the 13-year-old started screaming, and then brandishing a handgun while threatening to kill him if he told anyone. Another, the Rev. Robert C. Becker, would take boys to a trailer where, they said, he slept beside them and molested them. And the Rev. Joseph R. Bennett was accused of raping a girl with the handle of a paten, a plate used to hold eucharistic bread.

                                Thousands of documents gleaned from the personnel files of the Archdiocese of Chicago were released to the public on Tuesday, unspooling a lurid history of abuse by priests and halting responses from bishops in the country’s third-largest archdiocese. In each case, the priests ultimately died or were ousted from ministry, and in most cases, the allegations were never proved in a criminal court. But the documents suggest that church officials were at times quite solicitous toward priests accused of abuse.
