  • The family schism.

This is the story as told to me by my Mamaw (who lived to be 90 and died 9 years ago) and my own experiences.

My kin in Texas are what are known as Primitive Baptists. They originally split with the Baptists over the Baptist Board of Foreign Missions, the addition of seminaries, Sunday schools, the use of musical instruments in church, and prohibition.

They believed Christians had no business being involved in politics. I know, stupid right?

Their roots were grounded in the Five Points of Calvinism, namely, the Irresistible Grace. The primitive Baptists don't believe in even putting a sign in front of their building, because if you were supposed to be there, you already would be. Much like Landover.

They also have the most Godly wooden pews ever. You have never glimpsed what Jesus went through until you have sat and stood up from those things for three hours. That's only during non football season. (Those belonged to God's favorite Team The Dallas Cowboys under Coach Landry.)

The schism came when a few dissident whiners came forth with Scripture from James (you know like the King James).
Faith without works is dead. Faith is shown by works Devils also believe Faith is made perfect by works A man is not saved by faith only.
This clearly violated the points of the Perseverance of the Saints, Nature of the Atonement and the Irresistible grace. Works, as we well know, are not the path to salvation. It's all about the predestination.

Half of my family fell to that cult. Many of my family members graduated from Abilene Christian instead of Hardin Simmons.
Christians are superior because we possess an understanding that unbelievers lack. It is through the Power of Jesus only the converted mind is able to understand what is going on in the world; what the Communists are really up to; what Satan's intentions are. Most unbelievers do not even believe in Satan and cannot understand his tactics.

Amen, brother! I truly believe that God Himself had a guiding hand in NFL Football when the Dallas Cowboys were created. God Bless Tom Landry...even if he was a heretical Methodist.

You see, this is what happens when you let people have private interpretation of the scripture. The only Schism of any importance is the one that started when Martin Luther lost his mind and committed unforgivable heresies. You Protestants all want to be right, so you turn against each other and branch out. Catholicism is much easier - you just do what your priest says. You don't even have to think about it. Honestly, why make things so much more difficult for yourselves?

Saying in the name of the Father, and the of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, is satanic?!? Don't you know God doesn't even listen to prayers unless you say that at the beginning and end, while you make the sign of the cross?

Can you show me where it says this in the Bible?

Pastor, if you could also spare a prayer for the Hardin Simmons Cowboys. I would really appreciate it.

The church teaches it, and the Bible says the Church is always right.

Your papist dogma is not appreciated here sir. If you didn't come here to learn about God's Word or to share in His Glorious Gift of Salvation, then you must be here to troll or be a pain in our collective behinds. You have to choose now, whether you are on the side of the Dark or of the Light.

I'm telling you what the Bible says. The Bible says that the church shall have authority on earth and represent God's will from heaven.

Oh Jim, give the kid a break. He's not quite right in the head. He actually emailed me about some property in some backwater in Arizona to build a Church.

It was owned by our old friend A.A. Allen. We all learned from the same teacher. Brother Oral. We all hammered tent stakes at one time or another.
Well bless my soul. What is wrong with thee? You're twitchin' like man with epilepsy. Who do you think would have such bad luck? In the name of Jesus, now get up and walk! Mm mm oh, oh, yeah, yeah!
