Can you show me in the Bible where it says that we shouldn't take it literally?

      Metaphors? perhaps.
      Contradictions? No.

Deuteronomy, chapter 5 verse 17, Thou shalt not kill <---> (and a favorite on this forum) Exodus chapter 22 verse 18, Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.

This is a contradiction because killing is taking someones life and if you take a witch her/his life you kill him/her. There are dozens of those all over the Bible. This is what you get with a book that has been rewritten numerous times and that has been used as a tool for oppression by dictators.

And, please, correct me if I am wrong,

"Thou shalt not kill" essentially tells us not to do unjust murder. "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live" implies that the subject has horrifically sinned and thus the killing is justified.
