Hypothetically speaking, since we don’t seem to work in facts on here anyway, if I had a vehichle that could drive vertically and my brother had the same vehicle that drove on land, both going at 70mph, id arrive at the sun before he arrived home at my mums?

To start off with, you're wrong. The sun doesn't glow yellow. It appears yellow. The sun emits white light, which is all the other colours as well as yellow. Just like when you shine a white light in to a prism, you see the other colours exit it. If the sun didn't emit white light, we would all be blind to the other colours without the aid of our own light sources on earth (Lights, flame etc). Its quiet a miracle actually, the complexity and brilliance of the design of our eyes.

Have had a brief read of this thread and had to sign up to point out one obvious thing.

All of you criticizing obvious FACT and science in this thread constantly claim that all the scientific data and facts posted are just assumptions and fairy tales with no hard evidence, well... where is the hard evidence that Jesus was ever alive? That God is real? Seriously, nobody here was alive that long ago, so how can you dispute data that has real facts to back it up, yet be so sure of something that the only proof of is a 2000 year old book?

We have hard facts and can know for certain that Jesus walked the earth and God exists because it is in the King James Bible 1611. And we know that we can totally trust the King James Bible 1611 because it was inspired by God. Those are all the facts you need to know. What is so difficult to understand??

To you Chris and all the other godmockers out there I wish to ask you a question. You Know, deep down in your very being, that your mother really love you, right? She has probably told you so many times[let me call that rumor], shown you in her actions [I will call this innuendo], she might have even written it on a birthday card[unsubstantiated writings-did you see her actually writing it].If I were to sit here and tell you you are wrong, she might not even be your real mother-can you remember her being there when you took your first breath or any of the other things I have said above doesn't make for a good discussion, does it?.Why do you have such a hard time when a True Christian Tells you of Gods Love? Show you facts of his Existence, even in a book that has been a standard for almost 500 years[King James Bible 1611], accepted all around the world by the majority of the population. Except for a few dissenters such as yourself of course. I will gladly accept the idea that your mother loves you for the above reasons, why can't you accept the bible using the same rational?

as well as the temperature gradient is constant over this distance,

In fact the tropsphere is only 11 miles in height, so recalculating his maths,
288k + 11*6 (66) = 354K at the top of the troposphere,

this leaves a difference of, 5040-354 = 4686K

The temperature coeficeint of space is, 3*10-5 K km-1
so using this with the temperature left over.
4686 / 3*10-5 = 156,000,000km
1AU = 149,598,000km

which is pretty accurate.

Now wait a minute there... first you state the "problem" is with the assumption that the troposphere extends all the way to the sun, and then you state Pastor Billy-Reuben doesn't know how to use maths.

Which is it? I know I don't understand the maths - I was only home schooled until I was 15 - but you are giving a mixed message here.
