  • Re: The Sun: Millions of miles away?

You gauys - especially Pastor Billyy-Reuben - really need a reality check.
While I do agree that science has nothing on the glory of God, you guys really need to keep up and accept some things.
The fact that the we are in a helio-centered system just glorifies creation even more - that God can create such unfathomable things, with ease. Also, that the distances that are dealt with in space are so insane that they also surely prove the existence of a divine creator.
Not trying to offend, just trying to help you along so that yu're not considered bigotted.
Luke 14:26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.

That makes no sense at all.
Why would God use such tremendous distances? Just because He can? Please. He has better things to do than show off.

You think being realistic is bigoted? Are you really that much of a racist that anyone that does not think exactly like you is wrong?
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

        Hello,

I would like to start by saying. I am not religious. I feel that its only fair to be honest with your community. When I say I am not religious that means I dont subscribe to any religion on earth. I do believe in a higher power. I just have not been able to commit to a faith. I am a deep thinker and like to debate with many different people and mind sets. I would also like to state i have the utmost respect for religious people and I am not here to try and turn your faith or make fun of your beliefs. That is not the person I am. I believe in equal choice for every man woman and child.

On to the topic at hand.

I have done some research into what you say. Now it is knowen that the moon is 238857miles from the surface of earth. So i am slightly confused as why you would belive that the sun which is much further away from the earth than the moon would only be 500 miles?

We know that the Moon is this distance because we have been there and back. If it was the case that the sun was that close then the astronauts would have been evaporated just outside the orbit of earth no?

I also dont see what benefit the Sun being 500 miles away has to religion. It being millions of miles away does not deny the existence of God. I would argue the it endorses God as to create something of that kind of wonder could only be done by God.

Tell me what you think, I would be very happy to take criticism and vindication on this matter.

        Kind regards,

        Thomas Hannah

HAHAHAH ARE YOU FUCKING RETARDED? If the sun is only 500 miles away, we could build a bridge to it, fuck me you guys are stupid.

Also if the sun was only 500 miles away, how the fuck does Mercury, Venus and the moon all fit between the Earth and the sun, without colliding? And don't say thoes planets dont exist, because you can see the moon every night, and you know it comes between the sun and the earth though the solar eclipse, and the moon is far greater than 500 miles big.

I just crashed your logic with science a 8 year old could do.

So fuck you, stop being a fucking moron and get an education you redhead hicks

Thanks for letting us know you hate God. At least you appear to be honest though misguided.

Tell me Thomas, how did you come up with that distance? Did you measure it with a yard stick? Or did some secular 'scientist' theorize (guess actually) how far it is and you simply plagiarized his bad information?

A few problems here. First, it is impossible to penetrate the firmament. Secondly, it is a vertical trip, no elevator is that tall nor any free swinging bridge that long. Try again, retard.

Ok let me explain this in a way an idiot like you, MIGHT understand, all the planets of our solar systems rotate around the sun.

You're saying the gap between the Earth and The Sun is 500 miles right?

Well the Moon, Mercury and Venus are all easily larger than 500miles wide, so when these planets pass each other when they rotate around the sun, how come theres never been a collision, because I would really like to know how venus can fit in a 500 mile gap.

Sorry, but I think God lied to you, or you've been smoking some awesome crack

Of course Mercury and Venus exist. I am an amateur astronomer and I have seen them. Mercury, Venus and the Moon are all on circular orbits around the Earth. Their paths do not cross so why would they collide??

Why do you type 'piffle' instead of the nasty word you really mean? God can hear your thoughts and he hears the word you say in your head. Your childish wordplay will not fool God.

You said you do not beleive in God. So you must hate Him. You make Him cry. :cying:

Now Thomas, do you really think we are that gullible? First off, my JesOS Ver 7.21 anti virus software detected a virus in the website you sent me to, not very nice.

Secondly, after parsing the page and removing the offing code, I found a lot of malarkey. Really, you want people to base calculation s based on photoshopped images? Do you really think these lines|| are a foot apart?

You do realize the moon is not very big, probably no larger than a football field and no more than about 200 miles from Earth, don't you.

You see Thomas, when God created the Heavens, he told His scribes some critical data so we would understand. He told us the Sun was about 500 miles away and that the moon was a lot closer.

You do understand, the 'moon landing' was a college prank/thesis for Spielberg, don't you? Have you ever looked carefully at the original images? Seen the wrong shadows? The waving flag, the microphone boom hanging down? My favorite of all was the one of the guys in the rover and in the corner, there is a stage hand sitting on a crate, eating his lunch. All done on a sound stage in Arizona.

Well I must congratulate you guys on one thing at least, if it wasn't for this completely ridiculous analogy of the sun being 500 miles away then i'd have never been lead to this site.

YOU GUYS HAVE BECOME INTERNET VIRAL!!!! Well done!

Don't worry, ban me or whatever I won't be around for long, and I don't have much to add to this convo that I'm sure a lot of people haven't already added through the pages of this thread.

                                Just a few things...

The moon landing was real, all of the 'conspiracies' you have mentioned have been debunked- and were nothing more than ignorance to how physics and astronomy actually work (the flag waving for example).

Secondly i've noticed one of the smileys you have on here is how very, very mature of you.

I honestly don't know if some of you are agreeing with this bullshit purely to troll and get people like me wound up enough to join your forum and rant but come on guys... REALLY???!?!?

It takes one type of leap of faith believing in a deity (for which I can't understand anyway) But its a WHOLE NEXT LEVEL of stupidity to have a leap of faith big enough to believe that our local star is 500 MILES AWAY.

Do you understand how hot the sun is?? Do you understand how big solar flares are?? Don't let the first poster in this thread fool you with all his number crunching and so called 'science', it's not. It's the scribblings of a mad man.

I can think of a million reasons why it is IMPOSSIBLE to make the assumption that the sun is 500 miles away... i'm not gong to go into any of them, for 3 reasons, a) you've probably already been told them before b) even if i did tell you, 99% of you wouldn't listen and c) IT'S ALL AVAILABLE TO READ ABOUT YOURSELVES. (the internet is a wonderful thing )

There are a lot of you out there who will blindly follow the teachings of these nut cases you call pastors, please, please do me a favor and try thinking for yourselves for a bit.... I mean... does it really seem logical to you that the sun is only 500 miles away? Do you have any idea how big the sun is? If the moon is 238857 miles away and significantly smaller than the sun (and i'm sure even the most ignorant amongst you will agree, and the sun is only 500 miles away can you not see the problem here? The sun should cover the entire viewable horizon and completely engulf the sky!! Not to mention completely wipe out any form of life. You wouldn't even be here in the first place if the sun was that close!!

Im rambling now, and I didn't want to get into the many many many reasons why 500 miles is ridiculous so il try and stop myself...

                                Just please...THINK.

                                Capisce??
