Seriously, the hearing of voices is not uncommon when you are run-down, sleep-deprived and exhausted both physically and mentally. As I wrote earlier, cats are comforting and it is at your lowest point, if I recall correctly, that you heard a voice.

As Rev. Rodimer rightly points out, the common perception of angels is of Tinkerbell characters or from the front of Christmas cards; and he is right when he says this is very far from the truth.

It appears that you are rested and back to normal now, naturally, the voice is gone and that is good.

The Lord does work in a mysterious way, but this is not a reason to think you have been selected by Him, or have experienced things that others have not - most things have a natural cause.

The Lord is much a hands-off God in minor matters, mainly concerning Himself with Great Deeds, like earthquakes, wars and tsunamis.

Thank you for taking the time and the link - very helpful. Please do not insult or degrade me or my intelligence by suggesting only people like "you" could be visited by an angel. This was NOT some cute little fuzzy fairytale nor was it some life-saving event. It was simply an angelic voice telling me a name. Period. I realize most of the people on this site are pretty much over the top with themselves, their beliefs and their superiority to anyone not part of LBC. It happened to me. It was real. It was NOT a demon. My cats are not witches. (wow)

However, I am damned most certainly in everyone's eyes on this website. Suit yourselves. I am gone. Enjoy discussing amongst yourselves without the thrill of an opinion remotely different from your own. At least one of you took the time to provide me the material I was seeking. I imagine that had to be painful for you Reverend but I do appreciate it.

There is more to faith and life than quotes from your KJ. Being able to recite some section verbatim does not equate understanding or superiority or salvation. You may call it acceptance. I call it apathy and know all humans are sinners regardless of what book is on the shelf or how many quotes you know from the scripture. No man (or woman) is above damnation and being saved once is not a free pass to go.

Ok, this is not about proof. I don't need proof for myself. I need material. I need citations. I need cooperation. However, I am done asking for help with this topic. I will find something on my own and hope that God helps me to locate the right piece of material, the right words and sources to make my experience more credible to others. Never mind.

You really don't get it.

The only truly credible source is God. He gave us a book in which He described angels; terrifying creatures, not winged sissies and infants like the one in your avatar.

Here's some basic info on real Angels:

Sometimes an angel appears to be a man with unusual features. Daniel saw an angel with arms and legs resembling polished metal and precious stones, and a face like lightning (Daniel 10:5-6). The angel that rolled back the stone from Christ's tomb was radiating dazzling light (Matthew 28:3; Luke 24:4). The book of Revelation describes some highly unusual beings who may be a variety of angel in Revelation 4:6-8.

Angels in the Bible never appear as cute, chubby infants! They are always full-grown adults. When people in the Bible saw an angel, their typical response was to fall on their faces in fear and awe, not to reach out and tickle an adorable baby.

People who get into accidents and miraculously survive often claim, in their shocked and deluded state, that a "guardian angel" protected them. They've been influenced by non-Biblical programs like "Touched by an Angel", and believe that angels are running around playing nursemaid to protect special people, while letting everyone else around them be horribly disfigured or splattered across the pavement. These are the stories you'll see on websites and in books.

In the Bible, angels are described as God's servants. They are messengers, mostly. Not babysitters for incompetent fools.

Well, that works for me and you, but not for a book. So, anybody PLEASE someone out there must have a suitable reference well-known to either Bible scholars or religious leaders. I cannot possibly be the first person who needed a scholarly or at least confirmable reference regarding ordinary people encountering angels. (Yes, I know I can do a Google or even go to the Journal of Religious Studies. This website seemed like it would have some readers with ample material. I might be mistaken and am not going to ask anymore.)

Sorry, about the scientist thing - I cannot help it. It has always been my downfall. My kids hate it unless they are sick or have some clincial question. I think like one and can go on and on about nothing. Oh, but you have come to realize this.
