  • Cannabis & God

God made all living things upon the Earth, right?

If a person find that they enjoy the effects of taking cannabis, and they are not inclined by this to behave in any unchristian ways, then is there any passage in the bible (ideally New Testament) which overtly states that, say, vaporising cannabis is bad?
What sig would Jesus have had?

    Re: Cannabis & God

There's nothing in the Bible against eating poison ivy either.

But there are many verses against being intoxicated.
    Matthew:
5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled
10:21 And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.
10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

      Re: Cannabis & God

There are plenty of verses about laziness and idleness. I am told these are the effects of cannabis, and therefore makes it ruled out in the eyes of the Lord. Unless you can find some that doesn't make you sloth-like, although you might as well just buy some cigarettes if you are that determined to pollute your body.

However, I do find myself agreeing with the idea of vaporising it. Surely, this is a clean and efficient way to dispose of the Devil's reefer? Brothers, maybe we should all get together and vaporise as much of this vile substance as we can?

The notion that "God made everything on earth and that therefore everything He made is good" is completely wrong-headed and blasphemous. As Brother Eliot has pointed out, God made poisonous plants as well as nourishing ones. He gave us free will to know the difference.

Who decided it should be the devil's weed? I know lots of people who smoke weed because all it does is allow them to clear their mind and look at things with a much less biased opinion. When under the influence of weed I find that instead of jumping straight to conclusions or immediately accepting what I'm told, I take time to think about things from every different angle and aspect I can, and I find I've been a much more open minded person since I started smoking it.

Your name and address has been passed along to the FBI. Using illegal narcotics is a serious offense, and God commands us to obey secular law.

I hope your cellmate "Bubba" is gentle with you, but I doubt he will be. Teenaged boys are worth quite a few packs of smokes in the joint.

Haha funny, but too bad marijuana is decriminalized in my state so as long as I'm on my property I'm doing absolutely nothing wrong. Besides no one goes to jail for smoking a little weed, did you think I'd actually be scared?

Have you ever bothered to look up the word "decriminalized" Jimmie? It's not synonymous with "legal."

I understand and yes I have looked it up. If you're on your own property it is permitted as long as you are not disturbing others. If police find it in public they simply take it and let you go. People are finally beginning to realize that smoking cannabis is not all that bad.

"Decriminalization" does not mean "as long as it's on my property I can do it and the police won't care." It just means the prison sentences have been lowered. And you're too young to own any property anyway. You're breaking the law on your parent's property.

Go ahead and call the local sheriff and tell him you're taking drugs "on your property" and see what he says.

You say you are more open minded, but I disagree. In fact, your very presence here simply illustrates my point that it turns you lazy. You have nothing better to do with your time than to debate the legality of weed and the cost to your soul on a True Christian™ forum that is here for the praise of God, not the debating of your so-called mind expanding substances.

This may be as well, although it does not in itself reveal any stance (either pro or anti) on cannabis.

I am going to presume for the time being that so long as I do not become lazy or idle because of it, I may use cannabis and not feel that I have sinned because of it.

As for intoxication, I am sure that the bible would only warn against such a thing because of the possible consequences of being intoxicated by, say, alcohol.

To actually class intoxication itself as a sin would make sinners of all who looked up at the heavens, and were intoxicated by their beauty.

Gosh, what a needlessly hostile, confrontational, verbally abusive, and ultimately unchristian response.

Please try to adopt a kinder tone to those whom you consider in need of betterment.

                            I am not a witch.

I am Cyberdine (or possibly Cyberdyne?) Systems model T101, or something, although I possibly have another model number in graphic novels or something. I'm really not sure. I've never really gone with those whole fan scenes, you know?
