I'm a HIGH SCHOOL student and I can easily disprove all of these silly arguments. I don't care if I get banned, I only registered to put the slightest bit of logic and reason into this hive of Christian nutjobs. But, then again, you Jesus-freaks don't really like logic and reason, do you?

#1 - Jump!
This is false, and can be proven so with a simple home experiment:
Find a path where you can quickly walk in a straight line for about 10, maybe 15 seconds. Get an object you can hold and catch easily in your hand. Walk quickly (don't jog or sprint, this makes it much more difficult to catch the object), then, while walking AT A CONSTANT RATE, gently toss the ball upwards, making sure not to not throw it to one side, then catch it. The reason you can catch is that if an object is moving horizontally, and is then propelled vertically, assuming the horizontal velocity is constant, the object should land in the spot it would be if it were never vertically accelerated in the first place. Same thing for the earth. If the earth is moving 700 mph, you're also moving at the same speed, you just don't feel it because you've been moving at that speed since before you were born. If the earth were to stop, you'd fly in a general east direction, because that's the direction the earth moves.


2 - Blow!
This is just sad how you can't understand that the earth has mass, and therefore has gravity. Anything that is made of matter has gravity, even a spoon, a person, a car, you name it. The reason we don't stick to each other the way we do to the earth is because the earth's gravity is much, much stronger than ours, and so the effects are unnoticeable to us. If you put any object in space, and an object that is significantly smaller than it passes it by, the smaller will be attracted to the other like the moon to the earth. In space, things are VERY VERY VERY different from things here on earth. Also, the reason people don't 'fall off' is because there isn't any gravity pulling us down off the earth. We are pulled to the moon, and it's true you are a little lighter when the moon is directly above you, but it wouldn't make you fly off the ground, or even make you more than an ounce lighter.

3 - Get high!
The earth IS round, and if you got high enough, you'd be able to see it. Problem is, if you got up that high, you'd have to worry about being hit by a satellite or maybe some space debris. That's just because the earth is REALLY, REALLY, REALLY BIG.

Before you start debunking scientific theories because your flawed logic, illogical reasoning, and complete lack of scientific knowledge makes you think otherwise, here's a thought for you:

If you are so more intellect, then why have you not read through the thread and seen the spherical earth theory has been disproved.

Your walking experiment is flawed. As you are walking along, and throw the ball up, you compensate for the forward motion and ensure the ball lands where you want.

How about you try this experiment yourself, that way you can make sure that you don't compensate for the forward motion.

EVERYTHING that has mass has gravity. Gravity is sort of like magnetism in the way it attracts mass. Say you have two magnets, one big one and one small one, sitting on opposite sides of a table. In the middle you put a piece of metal. No isn't that piece of metal going to be attracted by both magnets?

Oh boy. I really can't tell if this entire thread is trolling, or if people ACTUALLY believe that the earth is round . I am quite certain that Christ would not want his people to live their lives in ignorance to clear truths. Therefore:
1) The effect the OP claims does not manifest itself actually exists, and is called the Coriolis force, produced by the slower movement of the atmosphere in relation to the earth, due to its inertia. Human bodies, however, are too heavy to be affected by it. Remember that, while you are on the ground, you move along with the earth, gaining a great amount of inertia. When you jump, you are still affected by that inertia. Picture this: in a bus, you keep going forwards long after the bus has braked. Therefore, you still go along with the surface of the earth in an arc when you fall. If you were to jump from a stationary helicopter, you would land far away from position perpendiculary to its position, even without the air resistance.

Secondly, the baloon is MUCH too small to exert any gravitational pull. The formula for this is F=G(m1*m2)/r^2. G is a constant equal to 6.67 x10^-11, m1 and m2 are the masses of the two objects, and r is the distance between them. As you can see, the constant being small, the pull between the 10gram balloon and the 1gram piece of paper is extremely small, much smaller than the weight of the piece of paper, which is 9.8 times its mass. Objects which are "down" aren't actually down, it is simply our perspective that has imposed this. Australians aren't sitting upside down. The center of the earth pulls every point on the earth with the same force, therefore it doesn't matter where you are.

Finally, the earth is BIG! Huge! You need to go to the upper reaches of the atmosphere to see its curvature, of course you won't see it from a tree. I direct you to search a video on YouTube where a normal family made a baloon and sent it high up, and with an iPhone they managed to get pictures of the earth's curvature.
Scientists are not against god. They do not want to disprove him. Sometimes, they reach certain conclusions with which we may agree or not, but most of the time, their basis for important things, such as the ROUNDNESS OF THE EARTH is very sound. Do not make the mistake, in believing in Christ, of ignoring the life around you and the progress our civilization makes.

To begin, I would like to address the mischaracterization of your post. What you call experiments are pseudo-experiments. They can be performed, but you will not get the same results every time.

Pseudo-experiment #1

This pseudo-experiment does not address the earth being flat. It actually attempts to prove that the earth does not move. You can deny the existence of centrifical force, but you cannot prove it does not exist. You were cleaver in presuming the only way to test it was an extreamly dangerous stunt (jumping in the back of a pick up at 75 mph). A simpler way to see centrifical force is to drive your car with a passenger and have your passenger toss a tennis ball straight up. Under your false pretenses the ball will fly to the back of the car, but instead (in reality) the ball will fall straight down (try it, it works).

Pseudo-experiment #2

The force of gravity is proportional to the mass of two objects. The ration of the earth to people is 5970000000000000000000000kg:80kg. The ratio of your ballon and speck of paper does not come close to the earth:person ratio. Moreover, the equivalent real experiment could not take place on earth. The gravity create by earth's mass would over take any force created by any other object. The experiment would have to take place in the vacume of space.

Pseudo-experiment #3

I 100% agree that the higher you go the further you can see. But the shape that has this characteristic is a sphere. If the earth was flat you would be able to see every major land mark in the world as you raised your altitude. You would also need a telescope, but you would be able to Empire state building from Wisconsin. A more realistic experiment is travel to Wisconsin and look out across lake Michigan. You would be able to see Michigan if the earth was flat. But you cannot.

Finally, you do not have to believe the earth is flat to belive in God. In the NIV it is said that God created the Heavenly Spheres.

What you are overlooking here is that air is not 100% transparant. So, depending on things like relative humidity, there is a limit to how far away you can see things. Also no mater how big an object is, at some point you are too far away to be able to see it.

Finally, you do not have to believe the earth is flat to belive in God. In the NIV it is said
