Where the bible uses the word circle in reference to the Earth, the Hebrew text uses the word "chuwg" which translates as sphere.

I have argued the OP, and seen no real rebuttal to it. I have gone through previous posts looking for a sound argument. I have yet to find one. I just find more and more self interpreted claims of scripture as one sees fit from one or two verses not the entire passage. I wonder, was the Bible meant to be pick and choose or read as a series of entire works by His prophets? Hmmmm.

While David is calling for deliverance from the wickedness around him, he ends it with a message of love and hope. WNS posted a wall of scripture that was made to look like all sinners were hated and doomed. There was no mention of the gospel of peace and hope that through repentance and acceptance of the Savior there is a chance to be redeemed. All I saw was a rant of hatred and anger from God entirely quoted from the Old Testament. There was no reference to what was taught by Christ nor his Apostles.

Christians by definition are followers of Christ. What did Christ say when he was asked what the most important commandment was again?

Let's look at Matthew 22:36-39

36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt alove the Lord thy God with all thy bheart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy cmind.

38 This is the first and great acommandment.

39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt alove thy neighbour as thyself.

40 On these two commandments hang all the alaw and the prophets.


I am pretty sure, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, telling me directly what the most important commandments are should give a rubric by which to judge the words of the Old Testament prophets including David when speaking of the Lord's wrath and hatred.

To say that it encompasses it, means to circle around it. That is an odd image for a flat disk, at least in my mind.

The belief that the Earth is flat falls more in line with Ancient Hindi teachings than it does Christianity. I see no evidence in scripture that the Earth is a flat disk, square, rectangle, or any other shape.

Once again, I think this discussion is purely academic, and from the OP's "scientific" experiments, poorly discussed.

I'm not seeing anything out of context there. In fact, you are proving the brother's point. David knows that there are some people that God hates or else it wouldn't very well be in the Bible, would it?

A message of hope and love for himself while he prays for the destruction of God's enemies.

Hosea 9:15 All their wickedness is in Gilgal: for there I hated them: for the wickedness of their doings I will drive them out of mine house, I will love them no more: all their princes are revolters.

There was no reference to what was taught by Christ nor his Apostles.

In Paul's famous dissertation on predestination he tells us.

Romans 9:13 As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.

Read Leviticus 19. Jesus is not only saying to love your neighbor, but you should also not allow him to sin.

Also, I would like to add that there is a word for ball or sphere in Hebrew and it is not chuwg it is dur.

Isaiah 22:18 He will surely violently turn and toss thee like a ball into a large country: there shalt thou die, and there the chariots of thy glory shall be the shame of thy lord's house.

So if Isaiah thought the earth was a sphere, he would have used dur.

I would not call my brand of Christianity hippy nor fluffy bunny. I have a firm testimony based on my own prayer and personal revelation as well as scripture study. Thank you for your well wishing.

I hope you someday find the truth. I know that in the end every knee will bow and every tongue will confess Jesus is the Christ. I also know that the truths of the universe will be revealed, and while I do not think it will cost you your salvation, you will probably feel a little silly when you find out the truth and realize how much time and energy you spent arguing against it when you could have been spreading the gospel and serving your fellow man in a meaningful way.

I believe a woman should be submissive to her husband as well. That does not mean he has the right to strike her. The argument of a white Jesus based on theory and not scripture is not convincing to me. These are the words of man, not the Lord that I read. I don't want to get another infraction, so I will leave it with my prayers for you and your followers that you see to show more love to your fellow man. I will pray for your mind and your heart to be softened to the truth. It is there. Simple ballistics shows us the earth to be curved. It also proves gravity to be a constant measurable force. Galileo, Copernicus, and Einstein all loved God and sought to prove Him to the world. Science does not disprove religion, nor does religion disprove science. There are many things that both have yet to meaningfully explain and witness to the masses. I look forward to when we all have a fullness of knowledge.

Let's ask our average scientist how long it took to create the earth. They will tell you around 4-6 billion years.

The Bible says it was in six days.

Where is the agreement there?

Ask a scientist if it would be possible to get two of every animal on a boat. I would guess they would say no. Yet the Bible says it is possible.

Ask a scientist if someone has been dead for three days if they can come back to life... Do you see where I am going here?

So no, there is almost no agreement between science and the Bible.
