besides the fact that they didn't have rockets in biblical times, and now private citizens are even building their own. any one can go to space now if they have the money. people have sent video cameras into space using balloons. there's so much evidence that outer space exists, but you're going base your knowledge on the word of people who lived before technology existed? why would god let people know about something before they were ready? before they had telescopes? before they could build space ships? the church went after Copernicus like the jews went after jesus, for speaking the truth about the universe.

Right. I just created an account to reply to this. First off, Your arguments are simplistic in the extreme. I will now proceed to disprove them. First argument: Science directly tells us that an object that is moving or stationary will continue to be moving or stationary until another force acts upon it. i.e Friction, Gravity, etc. In the case of the truck, you are stationary (or friction with the air causes you to move, you weren't very clear), so when the you jump you slide off.

Argument number dos: The effect of gravity is proportional to the size and density of the object in question. The Earth is a huge Oblate Spheroid and as such warps spacetime greatly, causing gravity (although it is weak in the whole scheme of things). A ballon only causes a small amount of gravitational pull, as it is not very dense, and mostly composed of gas, which has nearly no density. Hence a piece of paper will be to heavy to be attracted to it's gravitational pull.

Argument number tres: Since the world is a spheroid, getting higher allows you to see more of the actual world. It is hard to describe in words, as it is probably to complex for you.

Also: WHAT THE piffle? WHAT ARE YOU GUYS SMOKING? EVEN YOUR BLODDY BIBLE SAYS TO BE KIND TO OTHERS! ALL OTHERS!

Reason why they use this "tall Columbus era sailboats" as an example in these silly things is that there are no more such things to be seen. I have watched many huge modern days ships go out to the sea and they will just sail on until I can't see them anymore. At all, not just some part of the radio mast. Funny thing is, that these modern cargo ships, tankers and cruise liners are much taller and wider than any Columbus era ships, yet they don't sink anywhere. They just sail out of your sight. So yes, you have never tried this yourself, or you would have known this.

what? a balloon has a mas of about half a gram, and the earth has a mass of trillions and trillions of tons, they are not a like at all. one is filled with gas, the over solid rock, ore, and soil. there is no comparison.

and i thought it was more pressing to address your misconception that a balloon is like the earth in anyway, but the most recent theory of how gravity works is that objects in space are moving around a curved plane of existence, set in motion on a linear path. but gravity aside, the earth is a sphere. the evidence is overwhelming. these 3 tests are poorly thought through. i mean if you were in a truck that was 24000 miles wide, you probably stay on it if you jumped. a balloon is not any kind of representation of the earth. and why can't i see the appalachian mts from the rockies?

Sorry, you are not getting out this easily. You copy paste lines that you don't understand. Tell me now, how is earth or balloon effected differently by gravity, in this theory of gravitation. Remember, you claimed they are entirely different things when I said effected exactly the same way concerning theory of gravitation. So put your money where you mouth is and tell me how is earth and balloon effect differently according to theory of gravitation. It should be very simple if you know anything about this thing.

Let's see have you done any of your homework. Can you now explain this bit you avoided yesterday? What this has to do with gravity, in secular theory of gravitation?
