As we know, there is no such thing as "mental illness" but that doesn't mean that a person can't sometimes have addled thoughts. I know I do. If anyone wants to say that is a failing of mine well, I won't disagree. Here's a simple example: I fly a lot in connection with work and always use the same airline. If they don't have a destination then I don't go there. Sometimes I go there. Then I have to choose another carrier. Which one should I choose? They are all dreadful. That is why I've never used them. The last time I did they went on a detour to look at an active volcano. Or I could use a different one. It is so confusing.

But that is not what physicians call "mental illness" so let's see what God says:

next they buried him (evidently with some pomp) and it is at this stage that the apothecaries - "chemists" or "pharmacists" as we might call them - swing into action: AFTER DEATH: physicians kill: apothecaries embalm

Having turned his back on God who made him the wretch consults these "physicians" for healing, "apothecaries" for medicine.
It is often said by new age demoniacs that doctors only treat the symptom, not the disease (so not news: doctors say that too).
In the case of new-agers of course, their recommendation is to consult SATAN and eat hallucinogenic plants/amphibians.. but my point
is that doctors who claim to heal or to treat disease are liars in the service of HELL. Doctors are mentioned in The New Testament and
indeed some material was communicated to us by God through the inspiration of Luke .Colossians 4:14. a doctor who knew the difference between illness and demon possession.

MARK 5
25 And a certaine woman which had an issue of blood twelue yeeres,
26 And had suffered many things of many Physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,

An example of Jesus healing an illness (a type of plague). Luke knew that this was an illness, recognised the symptoms, knew that Jesus had healed the woman and that it was a miracle.

Notice how Luke describes this Miracle using the terminology of his profession: he describes the woman's illness in terms of symptoms and her miraculous healing is also described in those terms. It is a professional witness to a miraculous event. Mark is not a doctor. He knows what an illness is though and describes Jesus' Miraculous Healing in terms a layperson could understand.

There are many references to the foulness of demonic possession in The Bible, but I will just post one or two of them with Luke's comments because he would know what he was talking about, as you might see it, because he was a doctor. Modern physicians might very well describe these devils as "mental illnesses" but they are wrong. Jesus knew that, we know that and Luke knew that, too.

Luke tells us that this was possession by a devil, an unclean spirit. NOT such-and-such an illness, NOT some unknown illness NOT a "mental illness". DEMON POSSESSION.

Mary Magdalene did not have a dissociative disorder. She was possessed by demons. Luke knew what an illness was, knew that some were incurable. DEMON POSSESSION is not any sort of illness. Luke clearly differentiates between the two. Where symptoms are described, throughout The New Testament they are exactly the symptoms of "mental illness" but they are no such thing. They are evidence of SATAN and DEMON POSSESSION. If you do not believe that you do not believe The Bible: you are calling Jesus a LIAR.

The evidence of Luke, physician and eye witness to Jesus' Miraculous Ministry attests to the reality of demonic occupation. At no stage does he ever equate demoniacs with the infirm (although sometimes a person may be sick and also demon possessed of course). Acceptance of mental "illnesses" is a denial of Jesus, and reliance on the debilitating medications of satanic apothecaries is rejection of The Holy Spirit and earns you a one-way ticket to HELL.

Petrol sniffing, alcoholism, gang violence are all things which need resolving, but there's no simple answer. To acknowledge that these problems exist, is not being racist.
