You don't have to consider it. God does:

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. (Joshua 1:8)

Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do. (Deuteronomy 29:9)

I'm sorry, I've read the Bible, some time ago I must admit so it's possible I may have missed a bit or my memory doesn't serve me as well as it should, perhaps I should pray for that, but even so I can't recall anywhere in the Good Book where it say's anything about America being "God's Country", or for that matter anything about "America" at all.

I do recall Deuteronomy 7:6-8 where God tells the Israelites that He
"hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth." which, I always thought, meant that they were His chosen people. This would of course mean the Jews. Granted they may have lost that role when they so cleverly followed the prophecy and put Jesus to death, but even so that still leaves me with completely confused over the "America is God's country" question.

Can anyone help?

Yes it is, just like how I can watch the news on one channel, and then open a newspaper written by other journalists who don't know each other to see the same news reported. Incredible!

This bit makes me feel truly sorry for you. I hope you're eventually able to realise how oppressed and violated you are. People in abusive relationships often feel like there's nothing wrong with the way they're being treated and that every relationship is like there's, but it's simply not true.

At times, while reading some of the replies on here, I genuinley struggle to imagine how a person can be so closed minded.

Our minds are open to the Christ.

I read enough of the thread to see you criticise someone for not being your 'neighbour', yet almost all of you feature a shaking fist with the message "tell her once". You're piffleing kidding me right? Even in America, violence against women is generally frowned upon! Surely you would consider your wife to be your neighbour!

At times, while reading some of the replies on here, I genuinley struggle to imagine how a person can be so closed minded. Sometimes I get convinced that you're just being sarcastic, but no, you manage to back it up with a big hit of Hallelujah! Perhaps I am lucky that I was raised by sensible parents who weren't the brainwashing type.

Let me address a few things:
The Bible was written over a significant period of time... by many different people. It upsets me to think that you would persecute Judaism (from which Christianity derived) and yet put so much (blind) faith in their scripture (that would be the first 5 books of the Bible; the Pentateuch). The reason some things aren't mentioned by name in the Bible, is because... drumroll... they weren't invented/discovered!

Thankyou Jedediah, I think possibly hostility may have been a poor choice of word. I do understand that you are trying to save me, I may disagree with your methods but that does not mean I do not respect them and are not grateful for your attempts to save my eternal soul.
Perhaps a better choice of word might of been ignorance, please indulge me for a second, I am not saying Christianity is ignorant. My original post was about the article attached to the beginning of this thread, in it I detailed why the article was inadequate. I did not dispute the word of God and it is not my plan in future to do so on this forum. I did dispute the word of a human trying to prove the age of the planet using false maths and what the author refered to as sciene, despite a distinct lack of any science. I thought my words which I very carefully laid out might be taken with some good grace, yet the responses I have recieved show that my words have barely been read. If they had been read someone might of noticed that I did not dispute any Christian doctrine. My only dispute was with a human's poorly devised proof of one aspect the Bible tries to teach.
If faith is belief without evidence then why defend so blindly a completely flawed article as far as to the point to insult, challenge and demonify anyone who disagrees with it even without actually reading their disagreement. Just to clarify if I was a Christian who had read the article of this thread I would of made the same points and I would have considered the article worthless as much as I consider it worthless now.

getting a little passionate here, feeling a little hostility from people, I didn't even say anything wrong.

There is no hostility here, friend. If our hearts were not filled with love for all the unsaved trash of the world, why would we spend our time trying to correct their errors and win their souls for His Kingdom? The most hateful thing I can think of would be to ignore them as they wallow in depredation or, worse yet, molly-coddle them and tell them that their "scientific" misconceptions and sinful nature are okay in the eyes of the LORD. God is very clear about how we are to do the work of evangelists and spread the Good News.

II Timothy 4:2-5
Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

We are trying to snap you all out of your delusion and exhort you to get right with Jesus! God has brought you here for a reason. For us to just ignore your desperate cries for help would be completely antithetical to the Christian Love that we all feel for each and every one of you. Please try not to be so hostile. We are only trying to help you and the rest of the unsaved trash who come here spewing hatred and putting your ignorance on display. It's not too late for you or for them. We want you all to join us in Heaven. We want you all to accept Jesus' kind offer of Redemption and become a True Christians™. It is precisely because of our Christian love that we scourge and chasten unsaved trash.

This is not a forum for unsaved pond scum to insult each other. Nor is it a podium for secular heathen debate.

Both of you need to realize, and quickly, that this is a forum to give thanks to Jesus Christ for the salvation that we do not deserve as filthy sinners.

"Dr." Matthews has only recently joined Landover (you'll notice he still has his "Unsaved Trash" tag, might just be delayed paperwork or whatnot, but we'll see), and may be being a little "fervent" here. I'd not pay him much mind, for now (at least until he starts with some Scriptural support for his opinions, hint hint).

I do urge you to reread the Bible if it's been a while. Brother V has an excellent "Bible in a Year" section where he gives True Christian™ readings of Scripture.
