        Brother Harold, please tell me you read more than just the first few lines and didn't just abandon reading because I'm an agnostic, I did not attempt to disprove Christianity throughout that entire post. It was only an assessment of the article this thread is based on and the reasons I believe it does not support christian beliefs.

          Anything beyond that would simply be your personal conjecture and guesswork. Please tell me this makes sense?

          Now, if you can set aside the time and afford us the common courtesy of reading the entire thread, you will find that any issues or concerns you have with the topic have been soundly refuted.

            Less than in Harry Potter, but I bet you've read that.

            Seriously, read it. 2 books/day, you'll be done in a month, and then you'll KNOW what the Bible actually says, instead of taking people's word for it.

              only read the first Harry Potter, not a big fan tbh. I have read the bible tho, cover to cover, when I was younger obviously. I do plan to read it again soon though. see that's what I do, read something before I judge it's content. that way I now what I'm judging, never in my life have I picked up a bible (or any book for that matter) looked at it briefly then said 'too many words, probably written by a fool.' Admittedly I have read things with many words that I have regretted reading like the article in the original post. and as people seem to not want to read the post where I disproved the entire article I shall sumarise it thus.

              1. The article does not prove atheists wrong, nor doe it do so with science
              2. The entire argument is based on the estimated amount of water currently on earth
              3. The entire argument is based on the estimated amount of people currently on earth
              4. The article neither proves nor disproves that the earth has been around for 6000 or 3 billion years
              5. This article being incorrect neither proves nor disproves Christianity or atheism

              and if you want a really short summary
              The article in the original post is a completely meaningless misuse of maths but it does not matter that it is incorrect because that does not make anyone except the author wrong.

                oops dreadfully sorry didymus, didn't read poster name, assumed you were the same guy from before having a dig at me. getting a little passionate here, feeling a little hostility from people, I didn't even say anything wrong. I'm disagreeing with the words of a human being who has butchered mathematics and simple logic, not the word of God.

                  Listen here son, you mentally handicapped folks should not be allowed to post on the internet, ya hear! You go on about mixing up people on the internet, how do you tell your mother from the whores selling their souls to the devil? How do you know the difference between satan and God?                     mentally handicapped? I'm not the one who saw a bunch of pretty numbers and assumed that the entire article was correct merely because the calculations were beyond my own grasp of maths. And if I'm reading correctly that post was only about the fact that I didn't read the name of the person who was talking to me. For that you spout a torrent of abstract questions at me, in which I'm pretty sure you tried to call my mother a whore whilst avoiding actually saying it. And I'm the one who belongs in an institution? You seem to be a very troubled and hostile man, just the sort of soul God needs to take mercy on oh and since I'm apparently your son, how did you tell the difference between my mother and a whore?

                      "Dr." Matthews has only recently joined Landover (you'll notice he still has his "Unsaved Trash" tag, might just be delayed paperwork or whatnot, but we'll see), and may be being a little "fervent" here. I'd not pay him much mind, for now (at least until he starts with some Scriptural support for his opinions, hint hint).

                      I do urge you to reread the Bible if it's been a while. Brother V has an excellent "Bible in a Year" section where he gives True Christian™ readings of Scripture.

                        yeh, I was just looking at brother V's bible in a year thread. I'm a little dissapointed in myself for the way I reacted to Dr. matthews post, not just for the infraction I recieved (I notice the absence of an infraction on his post while my infraction came through not 2 seconds after I had posted) but because I promised myself I would not be argumentative.

                          The other poster has received infractions as well.

                          This is not a forum for unsaved pond scum to insult each other. Nor is it a podium for secular heathen debate.

                          Both of you need to realize, and quickly, that this is a forum to give thanks to Jesus Christ for the salvation that we do not deserve as filthy sinners.

                            There is no hostility here, friend. If our hearts were not filled with love for all the unsaved trash of the world, why would we spend our time trying to correct their errors and win their souls for His Kingdom? The most hateful thing I can think of would be to ignore them as they wallow in depredation or, worse yet, molly-coddle them and tell them that their "scientific" misconceptions and sinful nature are okay in the eyes of the LORD. God is very clear about how we are to do the work of evangelists and spread the Good News.

                              Thankyou Jedediah, I think possibly hostility may have been a poor choice of word. I do understand that you are trying to save me, I may disagree with your methods but that does not mean I do not respect them and are not grateful for your attempts to save my eternal soul.
                              Perhaps a better choice of word might of been ignorance, please indulge me for a second, I am not saying Christianity is ignorant. My original post was about the article attached to the beginning of this thread, in it I detailed why the article was inadequate. I did not dispute the word of God and it is not my plan in future to do so on this forum. I did dispute the word of a human trying to prove the age of the planet using false maths and what the author refered to as sciene, despite a distinct lack of any science. I thought my words which I very carefully laid out might be taken with some good grace, yet the responses I have recieved show that my words have barely been read. If they had been read someone might of noticed that I did not dispute any Christian doctrine. My only dispute was with a human's poorly devised proof of one aspect the Bible tries to teach.
                              If faith is belief without evidence then why defend so blindly a completely flawed article as far as to the point to insult, challenge and demonify anyone who disagrees with it even without actually reading their disagreement. Just to clarify if I was a Christian who had read the article of this thread I would of made the same points and I would have considered the article worthless as much as I consider it worthless now.

                                I believe I said not just for the infraction I recieved. tho I feel I should apologise I was being snidey because I felt I was being treated unfairly.
