Why does there need to be a battle ground between science and faith?
I believe in my loving and kind God 100% and I have no trouble also believing in what scientists say. It's obvious that the Bible was written by people who put their own spin on what God was revealing to them and they got some of the details a bit wrong. The important thing is that we believe in God with all our hearts and remember that our hard working and dedicated churchpeople spend ages studying how best to praise God and fulfilling our missions.
So why let a few quibbles about what shape space is and when it all was lovingly created by God as a perfect place for us to live in actually happened?
But if they "got some of the details a bit wrong" then why believe ANYTHING they said? If we cant trust them to get basic Creation right then why should we trust them with our eternal souls?
For instance, did Adam and Even eat of the fruit and engender Original Sin, or not? If not, then we have no need of Jesus.
Besides, the bible explicitly gives the geneology between Adam and Jesus and therefore there MUST have been an Adam, and original sin. And we ALL came from Adam and Eve, else there could be humans running around without original sin.
It gets confusing sometimes, so what you have to do is remember to just believe it ALL--or throw the whole thing away.
Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left. -- Isaiah 24:6 KJV
Full moon during daylight? Oh, right, a "miracle".
Yes, there was indeed a miracle taking place Mr Much. The greatest miracle ever! But my point was that since there was a full moon (calendric indicator for Passover) the darkness of "eclipses" is unconnected with the moon.
We know that God controls movements in the heavens and on more than one occasion He has stopped the sun in its passage across the firmament, or moved it backwards. How do you explain that? It is particularly interesting that Darkness was the last plague before God killed all the firstborn children of the Egyptians. But not of the Israelites, who had smeared blood over their doors as commanded by God.
The secularist would say this was some sort of "eclipse" I suppose but if you read the historical account of Exodus 10:20—12:14 you will discover that this "eclipse" only brought darkness to the Egyptians. Science can't explain that so why should we accept your (ultimately demonic) explanation of the darkness in Okinawa earlier today? God knows what He is doing.
We don't need to - because we have His Commandments and the Perfect Sacrifice of His Only Son.
