I just came across this thread in another search. Being baptist, and well informed on the subject of substance abuse, and drugs. I felt compelled to post a reply. I know well, that very few people will ever change their point of view on certain topics. Even being shown plenty of evidence against their belief. This happens to be one of those subjects. So absolutely do not think I'm trying to change your mind. It is (As is all of the Bible), subject to a individuals interpretation of what is written. Even though to each, it's seemingly cut and dry, what is said. First I want to say that news article was saying the man ingested psychedelic mushrooms. That is not marijuana, by any stretch of the imagination. Marijuana does not cause hallucinations, or violence of any kind toward ones self or others. It is quite the opposite. It is a proven non-addictive substance with no long term negative effects. It is very useful for medical purposes, and the hemp oil, has even been shown to stop reproduction of several kinds of cancer cells, and has even cured a few patients. The most common response is about carcinogens from smoking it. The fact is the particles that cause ill effects in marijuana smoke are MUCH larger than in tobacco smoke. They do not sink into the tissue of the lung walls. Which is the main cause of cancer, emphysema, etc. I am in no way condoning its use for recreational purposes by this post, or saying that it is OK to do. I'm simply stating the fact that it can be a VERY useful substance. Which should not have the bad rap it has. I find it no worse or better than tobacco, or alcohol. Just my opinion. Second, from my understanding and research, it was used in biblical times as a part of anointing oil, and also for incense. Referred to as kanna-bosom, or kanna. Also another term that I can't remember off the top of my head, starting with a "c". Even more so in the original Hebrew text, than in our King James version.

No friend, you are completely wrong. No where does it tell us to 'interpret' the Bible. False and fluffy bunny Christians like to believe that because they then feel empowered to transgress Gods Word(tm). God had the Bible written so the simplest of minds could follow it. He did not have it written so only the True Bible Scholars(tm) could understand it. That would be stupid. You are not trying to tell us that you think God is stupid, are you? Or are you saying you are smarter than Jesus?

Please come back after you get off of the drugs and are prepared to spend time praising God and not putting your own words and Heaven knows what else into His Perfect Mouth(c).

Man rips off part of his penis; cops say the drugs made him do it

A 41-year-old Columbus, Ohio, man is recovering after, police said, he ripped off part of his penis during a drug-fueled high in Ypsilanti Township.

Washtenaw County Sheriff’s deputies found the man naked and screaming after responding to a burglar alarm at Ypsilanti Middle School, 105 N. Mansfield St., about 1 a.m. Tuesday, Sgt. Geoff Fox said Monday.

The man was kneeling outside the school and bloody from the waist down, with parts of his genitals ripped off, Fox said. He said parts of the man’s body were transferred to the hospital with him.

“He really wasn’t saying much at all — a lot of yelling and screaming,” Fox said, adding the man had broken a window to the school but didn’t take anything. “He wasn’t making sense. They couldn’t really communicate with him in terms of constructive conversation.”

The man later told investigators he picked up hallucinogenic mushrooms earlier in the day while he was in town visiting friends in a neighborhood near the school. The man does not have a history of mental problems or extensive drug use, Fox said.

“We’ve sent his blood off for further analysis to see if there was anything else, if the mushrooms could have been laced with something,” Fox said, adding that toxicology results are pending.

Medics first took the man to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Superior Township. Sheriff’s Office spokesman Derrick Jackson said the man is being treated at University of Michigan Health System.

Fox declined to discuss details of the man’s treatment but said he had been close to death.

“In terms of vital signs, they were as low as they could go without being dead — I could only assume due to the blood loss and the shock and trauma to the body,” he said.
