Some evidence from the bible:

1 Samuel 2:8: For the poles of the earth are the Lord's, and upon them he hath set the world.

1 Chronicles 16:30: Let all the earth be moved at his presence: for he hath founded the world immoveable.

Job 26:7: He stretched out the north over the empty space, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.

Psalm 93:1: For he hath established the world which shall not be moved.

The scripture is clear on this matter, the earth is not moving, nor can it be moved. Therefore the sun revolves around the earth. If you disagree , you disagree with the bible and with God. The Church's treatment of Galileo Galilei was fully correct.

I do not lightly agree with the Roman Catholic institution, even on those rare occasions in which the fish heads blow the dust off of their Bibles, but here are some other Scripture verses on that subject:

Joshua 10:13: And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. [Is] not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.

Isaiah 38:8: Behold, I will bring again the shadow of the degrees, which is gone down in the sun dial of Ahaz, ten degrees backward. So the sun returned ten degrees, by which degrees it was gone down.

Now, hellbound trash may say that the sun did not literally stand still or go back ten degrees, but let's think about this logically. The only alternative would have been for the earth to stop turning on its supposed axis or even turn back. Can you just imagine what a massive and sudden change in the earth's angular momentum would have done to ocean currents, weather patterns, and buildings, not to mention all of the people and animals on the earth's surface? If such an astonishing thing had happened, then surely someone elsewhere in the world would have noticed and written it down (other than in the Book of Jasher, I mean). Therefore, the only sensible conclusion is that those Bible verses have their literal meaning and that it is the sun that orbits the earth.

Perhaps you would enjoy reading and joining discussion in the Flat Earth thread, where True Christian Scientists(tm) have been attempting to explain this very issue to unsaved trash and semi-literate 4chan/ebaum trolls searching for "LULZ" for the past six months.

Next time you feel the Spirit moving you to post Scripture, I suggest browsing through the existing threads first, or even using the handy Search function, to see if there's already an active thread on the subject. That way, neither you nor we will miss out on any important discussion points.


By the way, friend, the Catholic Mary-Worship Cult taking a correct action or two during its nearly two thousand-year history of defiling God's Word is not to be unexpected. After all, even a stopped clock is right twice a day. I hope you're not going to turn out to be a Godless Papist.

Which means you will join us in condemning Pope John Paul II, right? As I'm sure you will recall, in 1992 JP Secundus apologized for the way the Catholic Church handled the Galilei affair and stated that, contrary to what the Bible teaches, the Earth does indeed orbit the Sun (see this article). He was Hellbound anyway, but I'm sure he's burning in an especially hot section of Hades in punishment for that particular act of heresy.

We've just said we can't disprove the existence of God, at least at this time.

Just like we can't disprove the existence of Santa, The Invisible Pink Unicorn, The Flying Spaghetti Monster.

Just like you can't empirically disprove the existence of Any other God that has ever existed for the history of time. Please note empirically.

The Bible proves the existence of God, and God, who spiritually inspired and/or wrote the Bible, whose Bible proves his existence... in a never ending cycle. Come to think of it, basically every other religion has the same story. Their religion is the "one true religion" whose holy documents "prove what they're saying is all true"... With so many religions to pick from, gosh... I find it difficult to choose. They're all so similar.

I will never be sorry for thinking for myself. You'd think an Omni benevolent God, with an infinite understanding of everything, would be able to understand where I'm coming from, and would accept people into heaven for being good people. But apparently not.

If God is all knowing, God knows what choice I was going to make before I was going to have been born, and know what I was going to become. There is no choice, because God would have made it for me when he allowed me to exist.

You might want to take the time to actually READ the Bible before presuming to criticize it on God's favorite forum. I've had it committed to memory from the age of 7 years old.

Well, since the sun is set in the heavens to light the day, it is obviously the most important, so it is brighter than the moon!

For it is written ...

Genesis 1:14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
Genesis 1:15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.

The moon is a lesser light for the night, and so is dimmer than the sun! The scripture doesn't say which is more distant from the world! So the sun and moon are the same size, and set at the same distance! You must take GOD'S WORD for it!

Actually, Sister Noddy, I believe the Moon is closer. If man actually set foot on the moon (and not on a set in Burbank, CA) then the moon must be just under the Firmament.

I could be wrong. Let me reconfirm with my KJV1611 and engage in a bit of divine dispensationalism and I'll get right back to you.

I can disprove the Invisible Pink Unicorn. If it's invisible, it can't be pink. Santa and the Flying Spaghetti Monster actually exist. Both are demons.

Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen: And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain. 1 Corinthians 15:12-14

Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. 1 Corinthians 15:3-6

500 people saw Christ rise from the grave. Paul even explains why nobody could find all 500 witnesses, namely that many of them were dead by the time the Paul wrote this letter. It doesn't get more falsifiable than that. Christianity passed the test. Now, how many other religions had their God's resurrection witnessed by 500 people?
