They thought they knew better than God.
God had told them what THE CERTAIN OUTCOME would be.
God did not want that outcome for His people. That is why He informed them of the consequences.
Notice in verse 3 that it is The Israelites themselves who kindle God's anger.
God does not dish out arbitrary injustice, that is exactly what He DOES NOT WANT TO HAPPEN.
His rulings are always just Deuteronomy 32:4.

are the new generations growing up in america really godly? honestly I really think most of the godly children come from godly parents, and how many are there? is there really enough christians in america to still call it a "Godly" nation?I always thought we were a minority in the population.

It could be both Brother. He hates the Bible for being the Truth, and us, for knowing the Truth.
