A Texan pastor has publicly condemned parents who took their kids to the mall to see Santa. "You know in reality there are no flying reindeer," he told them, "there is no workshop in the North Pole, there is no elves making toys, that you buy all the gifts and put 'em under the tree . . . It is not your place to lie to your children." Indeed. Jesus takes lying to children very seriously.
Matthew 18:6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
Praise God this pastor had the fortitude to tell other people's children the truth – even in the face of persecution (Jn 15:18-21) – just as Jesus commanded.
Mk 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
Every creature – that's every man, every woman, every child. Just watch how this pastor does it.
I don't lie to my children. I raise them in the nurture and admonition of the Lord (Eph 6:4). My wife also home-schools them so they won't be lied to by other adults about things like Santa or evolution.
