nquinton, for someone who doesn't believe in the Bible, you have awfully strong opinions on what you think it should say. But, the problem is you are framing the Bible in your own personal, subjective beliefs. Yes, we Christians are commanded to love, but your definition of love and what the Bible tells us is love is two different things.

A lot of the Bible may be considered "politically incorrect" by today's standards. But that is because we as a nation have fell away from God. Telling a person they will go to Hell if they don't accept Jesus as their savior is not hate. It is love. It is trying to help others become Saved.

I will pray for you. You seem to be very angry and bitter and that makes me sad because you obviously seem quite intelligent. If only you could apply that passion towards spreading the Gospel unto others! You are just misguided but Jesus Christ can help set you on the right path.

Because God, is God. No matter what the name is God is simply God.

So even if different entities are given the same name, that must mean the entities are the same? If I call a chair a "chair" and someone else calls a table a "chair"....is their table and my chair the same thing?

You do the same thing as the fluffy bunny cafeteria Christians who love to quote John 3:16 and claim that God won't send anyone to Hell because He "loves the world" when you conveniently ignore the verse that follows...

John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

When it says right there that if you don't believe in Christ you will be condemned.

I read the bible... not the version you mentioned, but it's an interesting book, but I never really understood exactly why some people take this for truth...
There are plenty of other religions, or interpretations of those religions (you guys are just a small part of christianity), so please explain to me why you are right and they are wrong.
Unfortunatly, the answer: "the Bible says so" is not enough. I know you are convinced that the Bible is the only truth available, but I'm afraid muslims say the exact same thing abouth the koran, and others think it's all the same, books written by people, nothing more. Why would you be right, and all the others wrong?

I know this user probably no longer posts here and I applaud them that much. His or Her IQ probably raised at least a good fifty points. Now before you decry me as something I am not, let me make this perfectly clear. I am unequivocally and unabashedly proud to say that I am an American which on top of I serve OUR country as a soldier. Now what I am trying to figure out is who started this entire pandering hatefest? The way all of you speak, and act sets you upon the same bar as the Westboro Baptist Church, which I will say right now I would love to see end in a hail of fire. The Bible is a Book, an amazingly well thought out and written book, but a book all the same. Now before you say I am an atheist, or a pagan, let me set you clear. I do believe in God. Let me restate that. GOD. Nothing else nothing more. I have a deep and unrelenting hate for all modern religions, for every one of them has run eschew. Some of those people you spit your hate mongering at are my brothers and sisters in arms. People that I trust with my life because I know them as only someone that has fought by someones side would know another human. GOD does not care what your religion is. He never did and never will. What GOD has always cared about is the way you conduct yourself in your daily life, not who you discriminate or hate against. GOD may know every path in your life, but he leaves the choice in your hands which path you take. He doesn't put a hand on your shoulder and tell you which way to go. Get out of your high-mindedness. Jesus was an always will be a great man. A great man among men, but simply a man to inspire and lead. Not some unfathomable ghost. NOW the Bible is fallible. Men do as men please. It's like the old saying. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't force it to drink. GOD could tell them what to write, but in the end they wrote what they thought important. Also unfortunately in today's society people such as yourselves take the Bible our of context. If you believe the bible then, to every female here in this forum, know your place and stand behind a man and keep your mouth shut. Thankfully I am a person that doesn't believe in that sort of thing. Thankfully I have the testicular fortitude to stand up and fight for things that I believe worth fighting for, such as going against that sort of horse shit. Question about Bible versions

I hope it's OK to post this question here, as I can't start threads yet except in Introductions, and it doesn't really belong there. I was raised Catholic, and now accept completely that Papist teaching is wrong. I was looking for information on the history of the King James Bible, and found this site.

It's very interesting, but I found this bit puzzling.

The Bible is NOT the word of God. The light of God is the Word and the power he needed to put his thoughts and plans into action. God's power spoke through his prophets who wrote the inspired words as a testimony to God.

This would be like an ex-President who has his secretary write the words for his biography. Does this mean you're the President if you read his words? Does it mean you will understand everything there is to be a President? Could you read this Presidential biography and be the President right after you finish the book?

In fact, the scriptures were only meant for the prophets, Jesus and us saints but sinners got their hands on them over 3,000 years ago and ever since then, they have deceived themselves of the true God.

Obviously because the bible is there only way to prove anything. people are brainwashed to believe that it is 100% true despite any physical evidence showing that it is actually true.
