    Someone explain your religion please

    Hi, i come here not as a troll, or a disbeliever in God or as someone to insult your faith, i have simply come here to learn more and understand what you people believe in.

    First let me give a intro to who i am. My name...well for now you can refer to me as tre, i am 19 and live in england. I am a practicing Muslim. Now before you say something to both my age and my choice of faith, please know that as i am not insulting your religion id ask in return you dont insult mine, i think thats fair enough to ask? I have already seen just from browsing the site some hateful and honestly ignorrent veiws to Islam, for example that we're all terrorists...heck even this is pretty offensive, so please non of that hear (it would be interesting to know why you have those veiws whether you genuinly believe all muslims are terrorists...which i sincerly hope isnt the case". Secondly, i know i am young but please dont underestimate my knowledge, i have debated with many "big" philisophical debaters, the biggest of whcih is the prolific athiest Richard Dawkins, who i promptly beat in an debate on Gods existence. I have a wide range of knowledge of different religions including christianity as a whole.

    So if someone could explain your faiths views...why you hold them, some proof attaining to them etc, itd be appreciated.

    I have discovered the only way to have a civil debate is to not be aggressive but understanting to each others posts and not to be insulting. Im interested in any responses you have, or questions for that matter, i am more then willing to answer any Islamic questions you may have...whether it be a belief you think we have...or a way we practice faith to God.

          ah..the site doesnt have an auto spell check like other forums im used to...

          as to the other 2 posts..they are neither polite..or helpful in giving a positive image of your religion...the faq thread said there is room for multi faith debate...id atleast request that you were civil about it.... I dont think youd like it if i played on christian stereo types that you would probably find insulting, so why do the same?

            Well, 'tre', your choice of religion is wrong. It promotes violence and hatred. Christianity promotes love and understanding. There is a difference.
            Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
            Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
            Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
            Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
            Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
            Matthew 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

                With all due respect how much do you actually know about my religion, how do you know how i practice it. How do you come to the conclusion that it promotes violence...are you going off by what you see people practice in the media? or are you gonna throw some out of context quotes at me. You find in all religions there are extremists who practice not what is taught, but what they think is best. No muslim i know condones any Muslim terrorist and we all think they are spreading a bad name for the religion as a whole. Dont judge me by what few do.

                You say Christianity promotes love and understanding yet this forum itself is very hateful to anyone that isnt apart of your specific church, even to cahtolics or other christian groups. Surly your not promoting understanding if your going to criticise everyone? If you promote love how come i am met on to this site seeking knowledge with racist, prejudice and hateful remarks (not referring to you of course)

                  Hello and welcome my Brother in Christ (not that you have to believe in Christ, of course, I still accept you !)

                  I'm sorry some of the members of this church are being rude to you, but unlike them I am very accepting of all religions. Yes, I must say I do have some reservations about the Islamic faith, much of it goes against what I believe. There's a lot in that Koran that I find to be violent, intolerant, backwards, sexist, homophobic, discriminating, prejudiced, racist, disgusting, bizarre and downright crazy, but I have no right to judge you.

                    Didnt covert him..someone whos so set in his ways could never change their thought of mind even if the truth was dangled right infront of him. No i simply defeated his arguments with general religious principles such as the design argument, and other examples from the abrahamic faiths (jewish, christian and muslim faiths)

                      thank you friend...actually muslims do believe in jesus as a prophet..as a man, not as the son of god. but thats another topic i dont want to go into.

                      All the things you have listed my friend, i have found examples of here..please post anything you want and i'lldo my best to explain them...usually there are simple misconceptions people make when judging Islam, or people quote extremists and think thats what we all believe...which is truelly not the case.

                          All I'll say is the Middle East, predominately Muslim, has little industry, few lush lawns and people running around with bombs strapped to thier chests.

                          In the mighty US of A we have many lush lawns, lots of industry and no one has a bomb strapped toi thier chest.
