Atheist Hatred for God

Where did people come to the conclusion that simply because Atheists do not believe in God, they automatically hate him?

As with any question that one my ask here, I will expect scripture to back up your responses (if your response warrants it, that is).

Thanks in advance for anyone who can clear this up for me.

Psalm 14:1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.



The Bible tells us atheists are corrupt people that do no good. Obviously rebelling against God's law means they hate Him. If they Loved Him, they would follow the Bible right? So it stands to reason if they don't follow, they hate Him.

Who ever said that Atheist hate gold? That's stupid. We know that materialist and cat-o-lick priests value gold over all things. Atheists LOVE gold.

I care more about honor and glory and smashing greedy shopkeepers heads in with a pike than about gold! (although the gold is useful and I do take it)

I think you're messing things up. They can't hate God, because to allow them to hate him would require his existence. People are corrupt, and all have sinned, yet that does not mean they hate God. If you don't show love to something, that does not mean you hate it.

Well God does exist so they are hating Him. The opposite of love is hate, is it not?

They lack faith he exists, and since they lack faith that would mean they don't hate what they don't believe is there. No, you can't give opposites to things such as love and hate. Just because I may not love someone, that doesn't mean I hate them.

Mr. Osborne, I'm afraid that passage doesn't explicitly state that Atheists hate God.

Obviously we can agree that Atheists are sinners for not believing in the Lord, but I read that line simply as saying they are bad people, but not that they hate God.

Not loving does not imply hatred. There are people I don't love, but by no means do I hate them.

And Ezekiel, I'm not trying to trip anyone up. Being of my age (in my teens) I'm looking for clarification on things I do not understand, or am curious about. If I can't follow God's word properly, how can I live a proper life?

Who should we trust to tell the truth about atheists? An atheist (bearing in mind that atheists are notorious liars), or a Christian (who has to tell the truth, otherwise they'll have to answer to God)? The answer seems pretty obvious to me.

how about a good-natured (as far as others tell me i am) atheist who tells the truth about his fellows because he wants to?
