Most vampires in European folklore are actually quite ugly, authors like Anne Rice and Chelsea Quinn Yarbro made them more appealing. Honestly, who's more aesthetically appealing, Lestat or Dracula?

I agree, vamps are sexy. If you look at almost every movie or book that has a vamp in it they are sexy,stylish, and powerful.

I agree with you about Nosferatu, not hot at all. Lestat, is a hottie. Jhonny Depp though I'll take over any vamp.

Why would a vampire -- an immortal being -- want to dress in clothing from one particular period in its centuries-long existence? Why not the free-love 60s? Are there no hippie vampires? (I think they're in Berkeley.) Also, why in the world would a parasite on humans want to call attention to itself by dressing in such a manner?

You keep forgetting that I'm referring to lifestylers now. Most vampire lifestylers prefer to dress from the period of time they thought most elegant aesthetically, the 1700s and the 1800s being the most common choices.

I think they would consider acting like this below, "philosophy":

sleep in coffins, drink blood, kidnap children, and cut themselves and others with sharp objects to gorge on blood!

That sounds dangerously Darwinist to me - surely the Good Lord created full-grown chickens for Adam and Eve to feast on first?

Genesis 1:24

God gave the word, and the first animals sprung out of the ground! GLORY!
Thus the hen came first, and then came the egg from the hen..
But that's a long time ago (about 6000 years), and since God doesn't seem to create new animals directly from the ground anymore...
Only the first hens, those created directly by God, didn't have to come out of an egg.
