Re: Thoughts on Westboro Baptist Church and their protests?

That Phelps fellow from Westboro reminds me a lot of that other looney Marshall Applewhite.

Also Mr solafidechristiana, my Brother in Christ, Brother Nathan was merely asking you to perform a common courtesy by posting in the Introduction Forum. It is just a nicer way to get to know those whom decide to post on God's Favorite Forum. I suppose it is like offering a pleasant salutation or greeting on arriving at someone's home, or in this case Private Forum. Please remember you are a visitor here and as such, we do expect you to respect and follow the rules.

As to your service, I respect all troops. I am wondering where you were located in your post? I have spent some time in the M.E. as well, not in Military capacity of course but as a civilian working for The Lord!

But hey, you want to run with a new age cult, you go right ahead.
Ok now I am humbled and need guidance. I am not a Mormon, nor have I ever been t a Mormon church. I just remember a fellow Christian whom I looked up to believing this and sharing this verse with me.

I am truly for any misconduct on my part in these forums. I am recently involuntarily separated under honorable conditions E5, 13.5years in the NAVY(you can't retire as an E5 in the NAVY). I am currently in the Sacramento area, CA. Aircraft Mechanic studying for my A&P license in hopes of getting a job with the state firefighting aircraft. Once again I am sorry for any misconduct I have shown and am truly enlightened by this forum. God Bless You All.

Westboro is not widely known, in Australia - but quite famous(ish) in the U.K.

The most common comment I hear (mainly from Englishwomen) is that "ooo! don't they all look the same, [pause] ..they all look the same!"

I would assume this "friend" was a Mormon that was trying to work you into the cult. Was he "grateful" for absolutely everything? Was he into crafts? Did he spend every Monday with his family?

Of course they all look alike, they're all related. Westboro church is basically all one big family of about 70 people. The fact that men move there to obey their wives (Fred's daughters) rather than the girls going off to live with their husbands is another one of their Apostasies.

Ephesians 5:22-24 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

I don't remember any part of the Bible that tells husbands they have to obey their father-in-laws, but that is the law in the Phelps community. Oh, and God help the man that ever crosses Shirley.

Out of his 13 Children, 11 are Civil rights lawyers and 3 are estranged.

Son: Fred Phelps, Jr. (lawyer, employed by Kansas Department of Corrections)
Son: Mark Phelps (business executive, estranged from Phelps family)
Daughter: Katherine Phelps (lawyer, license to practice law suspended, estranged from Phelps family)
Daughter: Margie Phelps (lawyer, employed by Kansas Department of Corrections)
            Daughter: Shirley Phelps-Roper (lawyer)
Son: Nathan Phelps ("Nate", gay rights and atheist activist, estranged from Phelps family)
            Son: Jonathon B. Phelps (lawyer)
            Daughter: Rebekah Phelps-Davis (lawyer)
Daughter: Elizabeth Phelps (lawyer, works at homeless shelter)
Son: Timothy Phelps (lawyer, employed by Shawnee County Department of Corrections)
Daughter: Dorotha Bird (lawyer, estranged from Phelps family)
            Daughter: Rachel Phelps (lawyer)
            Daughter: Abigail Phelps (lawyer)

So that's him, 10 children, 10 spouses, and who knows how many grandchilren (the math says about 50). Since Shirley has 11 and some of them are old enough to have children, you see how it is growing exponentially.

I am curious what is going to happen when Fred dies, especially since they consider funerals a form of idolatry.
