I love shows like harry potter, that point out that there could still be some mystery in the world.
We use Harry Potter in our children's discussion groups to get them involved in issues of character, service, sacrifice, and budding sexuality. I especially like the way that Harry dies, but returns to free the world from evil--what a great way to prepare our youngsters for the Biblical story of Jesus (similarly, the Chronicles of Narnia is an excellent introduction to some of the ideas of Christianity for younger readers). Now that we know that Dumbledore is homosexual, the Potter novels are also a beautiful way to show our children that gay men and women can be among our most revered friends, mentors, and role models.
The Dragonlance Series (the ones written by Margret Weis and Tracy Hickman)
Well, your taste in fiction is questionable, but I respect your opinion. Here are some great books where the heroes use supernatural powers: Exodus, Numbers, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles, 2 Chronicles, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. I'm sure that that's some fantasy literature that even the True Christian types would approve.
...as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Colossians 3:12-14 (emphasis mine)

Those are good books, your right Those other books I mentioned are pretty decent also.
No. I mean like psychic things. moving things with your mind.
Also, all of the bible verses Ezekiel mentioned say nothing about magic.
they say "enchantments" but that's when you're putting a curse on someone else. I just like to move stuff with my mind.
psychic things (how apt a term)
False prophets are "psychics" and they are an abomination. Seers, ghosts...it is all the same. An interest in the paranormal is forbidden.
Jeremiah 14:14 Then the Lord said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart.
Matthew 7:15 Beware of falseprophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
To you agents of false religions and atheists... Proverbs 16:2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the Lord weigheth the spirits.
Of course magic is in only practiced by those who stray into the darkness, but Harry potter wasn't a bad set of movies, had decent plots and good actors to portray the stories. If your into fantasy novels you should try:
The Dragonlance Series (the ones written by Margret Weis and Tracy Hickman)
Lord of the Rings (of course don't take the "Lord," literally, and you may enjoy them)
The Riftwar Saga by Raymond Feist (great 12 or so book series)
All of those were really pretty good books to read.
Oh, no! You shall burn in hell for that one! If we Baptists have our way here in the gawdly state of Gohgiah, you, Harry Potter and all your concubines will burn in the flames of hell for all eternity! Just you wait and see the power that a bunch of nuts...errr...spiritual fruits like us have in deciding the course of history! They may have taken away the disclaimer stickers from those evil science books but that's only a temporary set back and I promise, they will not be able to stop us this time in banning those wicked books on magic, Barney the Purple Dinausur and all shows of Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood (oh, no, wait, those can stay cause Mr. Rogers was an undercover pedophile who repented before his death and was forgiven by the good lawd in all his mercy). But when our Governor's public prayer for rain is answered by the good lawd, you and all your Harry Potter books will be floating down the river and straight into hell.

So is there some kind of inverse correlation going on here? The more feeble your mind is at thinking, the better it is at moving stuff?

You know what's an excellent introduction to Christian ideas for younger readers? THE BIBLE!
O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it--for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.
God being truth, justice, goodness, beauty, power, and life, man is falsehood, iniquity, evil, ugliness, impotence, and death. God being master, man is the slave. Incapable of finding justice, truth, and eternal life by his own effort, he can attain them only through a divine revelation... he who desires to worship God must harbor no childish illusions about the matter, but bravely renounce his liberty and humanity.
So is there some kind of inverse correlation going on here? The more feeble your mind is at thinking, the better it is at moving stuff?
Friend, our forums are here to discuss the Love of Jesus, not to discuss homosexual erotica.

Hey.. Temp, you should know before you show us your ignorance again, that there's about as much homosexuality in that Dragonlance series as there is in... your house.

Excuse me.
I hardly ever met a man with more knowledge than Brother Temperance. If I were you I would offer my sincere apologies. Beats me how you dare call him ignorant.
And he is no homer at all. I can tell you that much.

I completely agree, he isn't a homer. I'm just saying that you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover.
When I said you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, I meant that since he most likely hasn't read the series itself, he shouldn't judge it just because of the name of the series or individual books themselves. At least read the back of the book for the quick summary
