Well, the Irish have two religions -- neither of them Baptist -- and one hobby, drinking. (Read James Joyce: only someone half seas over abuses language like that.) They specialize in potatoes, simmering civil war, an inordinate fondness for peat, and drunken priests.

I can't think of why the bandy-legged race -- Celts exiled from Britain for being puny and freckled -- should get much respect from Godly corn-fed American Baptists.
