It is indeed terrible, isn't it. Why does this phenomenon exist? Why is there evil, of which this mediocre singer of light entertainment is just one example?

It is because Mankind disobeyed God (Genesis 3:6), misused free will and let sin and Satan enter the Created World. There is a way out. He's called Jesus!

Do you honestly think that it is useless to try to heal these Gerard Way cultists to Save them? Admittedly, they are vile sinners, but there is always hope in Jesus Christ! I am much more optimistic and as a recovering "emo" you could contribute quite a lot. These people have nothing at the moment but it is not only their "own problem". It is a problem that reaches into Eternity, and plays into the hand of the Enemy when the fates of this World will be decided very soon (obviously, this World will be demolished by Jesus and I am referring to the fates of its human inhabitants, of whom the majority will be in Hell unless we help them). This is a hard task but not impossible.
