So true, Mr Mayor. Another favorite of mine is the ON THE SPOT FALLACY, which is when an atheist thinks they've won a debate if a Christian can't come up with evidence to support their position or counter the atheist's argument. I mean, it's not like you can expect a Christian to have read every single scientific study ever published - or even one. Or to have a basic understanding of how evolutionism supposedly works. I mean, just because we don't know everything about science or philosophy doesn't mean we can't have an opinion. It's not like you have to have read every Superman comic to know that he's just make-believe nonsense. When debating with unbelievers, I like to stick with widely-known facts, like how the Grand Canyon proves Noah's flood happened, that way you can avoid this error.

Unfortunately I see this more and more in political debates. The liberals always try and change the topic by introducing facts and figures and statistics and analysis. It's a form of distraction. Hold firm, smile politely and brush it off. For all her flaws, Betsy DeVos is a good model for this. Politics is about getting the Republican candidate into office and worrying about the details later. Our current President has shown over and over that you don't need a plan, you just need the best brain and the best people.

A fallacy is an error in reasoning or logic. Atheists frequently employ them to support or defend their position. Here are some common ones.

Genetic fallacy. This has nothing to do with genes. It is referring to genesis, or origins. It is the attempt to discredit a belief on the grounds that its origins are dubious. For example, an atheist might claim that religion developed as a means of explaining the world or as an evolutionary adaptation or for psychological or social advantages. But you can’t discredit a belief by discrediting its supposed origins. Besides, we know that belief in the God of the Bible was the original religion and atheism arose out of man’s desire to deny the truth of God’s existence (Rom 1:18). Therefore atheism can be flatly rejected.

Ad hominem. This involves personally attacking your opponent instead of bringing a reasoned argument against him. For example, an atheist might say, “Only gullible/ weak/ uneducated people believe in God.” Just remember that those who reject God are “filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful” (Rom 1:29-31).

Begging the question. Also known as circular reasoning. This is when a claim is assumed to be true without any evidence to support it other than the claim itself. For example, atheists presuppose that God doesn’t exist and then claim that all evidence supporting the existence of God must be flawed because He doesn’t exist. We, on the other hand, know that God exists because the Bible tells us so, and we know that the Bible is reliable because it tells us it is inspired by God.

If I were God, I would/ wouldn’t… I wasn’t sure what to call this one, so I made up a name for it. Perhaps someone else on this godly forum knows the proper name. This is when people try to disprove God’s existence by claiming that if they God they would do things differently. For example, Richard Dawkins claimed that if God were real, He would have created fewer species. People often say something like, “If I were God, I wouldn’t allow suffering in the world; therefore God doesn’t exist.” Just because you might do things differently if you were God doesn’t mean God doesn’t exist. Personally, I wouldn’t do anything differently if I were God. He is perfect.

Can anyone else think of other fallacies?

I think the winner is the one not making even an argument on why is idiotic. Yes, the winner is the one sentence wonder who cannot even back his claims with a proper argument! Congrats!

That's another good one to add to the list, Sister. Affirming the consequent takes the form:

If A, then B
B
Therefore A

To take an example from another thread, an atheist might say:

If there is no God, then miracles are impossible
Miracles are impossible
Therefore there is no God

But if miracles are impossible, then how did Jesus perform miracles? How did He rise from the dead?

Of course, the atheist doesn't want to hear evidence of God's existence. By rejecting the miraculous, he is rejecting the strongest evidence we have.

brother,a times. We need to ignore and pray for them. We don't debate with darkness as children of Light. Rather we preach in and out of seasons, exhort,rebuke and convince with longsuffering. The tough atheist don't know that someone like pharaoh once existed whom God thoughed his heart unto destruction for the power and Glory of God to be made known.we all remember romans 9 verses 19-23

Funnily enough God articulates what He means. You seem to have missed out that bit:

Romans 9:25b-32b I will call them my people, which were not my people; and her beloved, which was not beloved. And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people; there shall they be called the children of the living God. Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved: For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth. And as Esaias said before, Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, we had been as Sodoma, and been made like unto Gomorrha. What shall we say then? They know pharaoh but are they aware that God harden the heart of the biblical pharaoh so he can be stubborn and proud unto his own destruction. Many of these atheist are stubborn in this generation mocking and saying "there is no God".

It's great to read God's Word in the KJV as He intended. I was shocked to learn how much had been altered or redacted in the other so-called "bibles" out there.

God has explained how certain types say There Is No God. They're called atheists and are determined to mock Christ. They even say they're NOT claiming there's no God!

God Himself has provided the definition here, they can't help themselves, they just have to contradict Him. Thank you for posting this encouraging Psalm.

its not easy to be a true Christian in this country. There are lot of idolatry and godless people here. If I preach about Jesus, some folks have this pride and deluded belief that they can continue their sinful life and still make heaven which is clearly impossible. Some people here say they are Christians and are ordinary church goers.they don't even know the Holy Spirit and do not love God. How can someone go to church on Sunday and then later go to a witchcraft on Monday or even some churches have forgotten to preach on Holiness. Its a terrible spiritual disaster here

Atheists cannot logically complain about sex trafficking, slavery, poverty, lack of health care, drive-by shootings, wife-beatings, or drug overdoses. They believe humans are worthless clumps of cells without higher meaning or purpose, randomly brought together in the random womb of a random woman (or random man with a randomly placed vagina because atheists don't care about accuracy or biology any more than they care about logic). If something is a random clump of things, it has no God given rights. One cannot take away or violate rights that don't exist.

From the atheistic perspective, there is no free will. All our actions are the cause of genetics and dietary choices and the influences of people around us. So how can they even blame anyone for anything? And yet atheists are the biggest accusers of all.

I don't know what that fallacy is called but it really irks Jesus. I know because I have a Very Vibrant Prayer Life and We are close. Spiritually and Mentally. Atheists wouldn't understand. Maybe they're just jealous. Is jealously a logical fallacy?
