Hi, I made an account to respond to this specifically. I have two things I want to say about this post. The first is that using physical punishment is not the right way to discipline your child. My parents are devote Christians and used to spank me when I did something wrong. We found out quickly that it just made me flinch away from them and didn't correct behavior. Instead, use things like extra chores and responsibilities, time away from tech, or not hanging out with friends. I know that worked for me and corrected my bad behavior. Secondly, emo is not a cult or religion. Its a type of fashion, art, and music style. The band in question is not labelled as emo but rather as goth or heavy metal/rock. Andy does not invoke violence on his fans at all. He doesn't drink or smoke and is a very nice person in real life. The pictures you used are not in the correct context. The first is of Andy after he fell off stage and broke his nose. The second is him joking around licking a prop for one of their music videos. No one in that gif as jerking off, one man was uncoiling rope, one was laughing, and the other was going up to itch his face. I would advise you not to manipulate things to your gain, it will cause problems in the future. The band does however use religious and creative imagery in songs and music videos. They have a sense for dramatics, and that's all it is. Just as fiction novels have things like villains, heroes, prophets, and warriors, the band does to. These bands are not meant to hurt others or change their religion. If one fan does harm themselves or change religions, it is simply that fans personal choice. I am a fan of goth/emo bands and I do not cut myself. Your daughter is harming herself either for attention or because she needs an outlet for things she's feeling. As someone who suffers from complex ptsd, depression, and severe anxiety, I understand her struggle. Get her a good therapist, someone to confide in and talk to. Don't get made and hurt her more, it leads a child to hate their parents, to know that hurting themselves means getting hurt by others. I say this with as much respect as possible, you are damaging your child by proving that you are not afraid to harm her. She will be scared of you and she will hate you.

1. Please tell us your justification for dismissing Luke 14:26 while embracing John 16:33. How can you tell that the second one is reliable and you can disregard the former one?

2. Did you actually read John 16:33? It tells us that our life here on earth will be miserable from the viewpoints of comfort, niceties, everything that is secular. We are going to have tribulation. This is quite clear, a direct statement. Please explain whether:

• Jesus is lying deliberately?
• if the Holy Spirit got it wrong and dictated in erroneously to Luke?
• if Luke deliberately lied to us?
• if the copyists lied to us intentionally or non-intentionally?
• or if you have erred and do not really understand the Bible?

Based on Bayesian prior probabilities, we should assume that most unsaved people err and make mistakes, and thus the probability of you failing is higher than that of Jesus failing. Hence, your claim of dismissing Luke 14:26 will need extraordinary evidence to counterbalance the prior probability of Jesus getting it right!

OK, time to look at the next verse:

The word to assess here is θλῖψιν (accusative - again a direct object of the feminine singular noun θλῖψις). It translates as persecution, affliction, distress, or tribulation. Distress means discomfort, nasty things falling upon us. Not a nice life with happiness listening to semi-alcoholic, hyped but technically less-than-average tone-smiths going through the circle of fifths in a stereotypical manner.

Conclusions: This shows you that the verses Luke 14:26 and John 16:33 both tell us about the same thing: hardship and suffering on Earth is required if you are to follow Jesus. Distractions into the world of pale complexion and Schwarzkopf overdose can only cause harm.

Ok so someone says that I cant call beating your children abuse if it falls under religious freedom. However Religious Freedom only means you have a right to believe whatever you what not that you can do whatever you what. Religion does not exempt you from the laws. There currently are not any supreme court cases involving Religion and child abuse there are some focused on other issues: see Reynolds v. US in which the supreme court ruled polygamy was not protected under the first amendment. They cited that there was a distinction between religious belief and action that flowed from religious belief. They stated that congress could not outlaw belief however they could outlaw action. Other supreme court cases involving Religious actions have cited this case including Davis v. Beason another case involving Religious Polygamy. In a supreme court case involving child abuse it is likely that one of these cases would be cited. A case in which Religous child abuse was an issue was in Kin Park Thaing's case where she took a plea deal and pleaded guilty to battery with moderate bodily injury.

Before you give me an infraction for stating the law saying "Our right to beat our children is protected under the first amendment" Do your research.
