I am a 16 year old student from Brasil(I live in America too, go learn some geography), I speak japanese like i speak portuguese, i've known the japanese culture for a long time know, and I think they are MUCH more respectful and polyte with theyre family, friends and equals, than you are with YOUR equals. Oh, I don't like vampires, I like Alucard as a character. You can look at this in the way that you look at literature. Alucard is a very well developed charater with many complex feelings displayed throughout the series. There are also many different sides of him that can make the watcher (or reader in the manga's case) relate to him. He also has his amusing points which just succeed in inscensing other characters, particularly Sir Hellsing.
As far as the vampire part of him goes, no vampire will ever live up to his standard, in my opinion. Ok, maybe Blade does but that's not the point.
Alucard is the difinative nightstalker. He never lets the audience forget who he is, a five hundred forty-five year old monster who was forced into the role of a hero, and has learned to enjoy killing vampires for God. Not because it's for God but because he finds that vampires today do not share his pride in being one of the most powerful beings on the face of the planet. They barely know what they are, and it disgusts him.
A small reminder that this is a fictional character I am talking about, who was based on the Transylvanian crusader against Islam Vlad Tepes Dracul III.

Don't particularly like Vampire Freaks. I'm just making it known that that is what I was refering to and do find it to be enjoyable and that Crispin Freeman has the most gorgeous voice one can ever encounter. No one else could play the Vampire Alucard. No one else has that wicked quality that makes you aware that the anti-hero a monster.

Actually I was refering to what could be called a "gothic anime" by the same name. It's really good and takes your traditional vampire story, adds a few twists and an awesome anti-hero with a gorgeous voice, and delivers one of the best stories I've ever encountered. It totally blows Twilight out of the water....
