    New movie to avoid: Gamer

Here's a new fantasy movie that is marketed to boys who play online games in their mother's basement:
Gamer, a high-concept action thriller set in the near future, a time when mind-control technology has taken society by storm. Humans control other humans in a mass-scale, multiplayer online game. Reclusive billionaire Ken Castle (Michael C. Hall) has created the controversial form of entertainment, Slayers, a hugely popular game that allows millions to act out their innermost fantasies and desires - online - in front of a global audience. Gaming has evolved into a terrifying new dimension mind control mind manipulation people playing people!

At the center is Kable (Gerard Butler), the superstar and cult hero of Slayers, the savage, ultra-violent first-person shooter game. Kable is controlled by Simon, a young gamer with a rock star status who continues to defy all odds by guiding Kable to victory each week. Taken from his family, imprisoned and forced to fight against his will, the modern day gladiator must survive long enough to escape the game to free his family, regain his identity, and to save mankind from Castles ruthless technology.
    Release Date: September 4, 2009
No doubt after this movie is released people will start to believe that their lives aren't really theirs and are just part of a computer program. I predict an increase in school shootings blamed on network-controlled influence.

Releasing this movie right before school starts wasn't really the best idea. When will the killing start?
May you be a blessing to every life you touch.

Yes, a new movie for nerds.

"Who's playing you?" lame catch phrase :/

The answer SHOULD be Jesus. However, for the sake of the movie, it turns out to be a thirteen year old.
May you be a blessing to every life you touch.

I have PROMISED to keep things UNDER MY HAT, and yet my hat is old and tattered now, so things may SLIP OUT! Someone involved in this film is LIKE ME! They KNOW things, things YET TO HAPPEN!!!

As I've said, I must MIND MY P's and Q's, but I will just say THIS. Some things that we think are FICTION are REAL, but not TODAY and not YESTERDAY. A Prophet can make money, if he is AHEAD of the Curve. And if you throw a CURVE BALL, who is to say where or WHEN it came from?

Now I will get a NEW HAT, one that is free of HOLES. I cannot tell the WHOLE truth, I must MOVE ALONG. I will keep MANY THINGS under my new HATS!!!

Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth. Revelation 2:16

Well it looks like another boycott is in order. Remember on those Oblivion/Fallout 3 threads I kept drilling it into those teenage gamers that video games distort the line between reality and fantasy? Now this movie is showing just that! I also fear that this Gamer movie may foreshadow future events in our lifetimes.

Imagine what video games will be like 20 years from now. Imagine how real they will feel. Eventually you will cross the line that seperates reality and fantasy and won't know which is which.

I also noticed that the most popular video game in this movie is called "Slayers". Another violent 1st person shooter like Oblivion or Fallout 3. Mark my words, Christian brothers and sisters, the world is going to become a more deathly and violent place!

This looks like a pretty stupid movie, to be honest. Sub-par plot that's been done before, actors no one's ever heard of, not to mention most of the film is probably filled with over-the-top action scenes with nothing but guns, gore, and sex.

I'm sorry, but your too late. Live-action role-playing, live-action games of Dungeons & Dragons, started in the 1980's. In LARP games, nerdy teenagers and collage students dress up as elves, Orcs and medevil warriors and hit each other with foam sticks and fake swords.

If that isn't "blurring the line between fantasy and reality", I don't know what is.

While your heart is in the right place friend, I do wish you would stop insulting Jesus by butchering His favorite language on our Godly forum.

If you're going to call yourself a Christian Doctor, you should take the time to use proper American English here. God hates slothful people, he says so all over the place in Proverbs. Take the time to proof your posts. God is everywhere, including on our Holy boards. He doesn't post much, but He reads all the threads!

I agree, no one cares about video games except kids raised by LIEbral parents and adults that live in their mother's basement!
