    There have been times when God has permitted Plural marriage (Jacob is a good example). We do not live in an age where Plural marriage is necessary, though at one point it was. These days, if you're found to be practicing polygamy, you're excommunicated.

    As for the avatar, it's just something I painted for a lady friend of mine when she was feeling down. I didn't have any other jpg's that were worth while, so I tossed it up there. I suspect that when I come across something more... suitable, I'll change it. I'll need to find something I like, though, and I'm picky.

                This passage within the Book of Mormon gives our beliefs regarding plural marriages -

                Jacob 2:27-30

                27 Wherefore, my brethren, hear me, and hearken to the word of the Lord: For there shall not any aman among you have save it be bone cwife; and concubines he shall have none;
                28 For I, the Lord God, delight in the achastity of women. And bwhoredoms are an abomination before me; thus saith the Lord of Hosts.

                29 Wherefore, this people shall keep my commandments, saith the Lord of Hosts, or acursed be the land for their sakes.

                30 For if I will, saith the Lord of Hosts, raise up aseed unto me, I will command my people; otherwise they shall hearken unto these things.
