If I answer that I speak 17 languages, is that any more or any less convincing than the list of languages you just made.

What does languages has to do with education or intelligence? Even some negro kids in Africa can speak easily 3-5 different tribal languages of the area they have grown, and they have not ever been in school. If you really need to know, or feel it is somehow important, I can speak 4 languages.
Does that make me 4 times more educated than Steven Hawking?

However, this thread is not about boasting with your vain pride, this is about Moomins. If you read carefully, you can see that title of this thread is "The Moomins – One step away from being Satan's concubine" not "Look at me, I can speak language"

I'm new in this forum and I'm a Christian and I am from Finland.

I am little bit disapointed to my US Christian brothers to this thread about "The Moomins – One step away from being Satan's concubine", because most of the critisism is based on not knowing the Moomins tale and Finnish culture or Finland.

So filling up those things that you do not know about connections with Satan and Bible verses is a little bit sad and in my point of view lying and false accusations so please read your Bible.

Few facts: there is a a witch and her daughter and a magician and some monsters in Moomins and they are the link to be critised.

I have not find any absurd sexual meanings or reference in Moomims. There is marriage in Moomins, because the Snorkmaiden is dreaming of it.

There is no alcohol or drugs in Moomins, no violence in, the characters similate only personalities we have here and there.

The midsommer fest is much more bigger fest in Finland than Moomins and even bigger in Scandinavian countries, so Moomins are only reflecting our culture. BTW Midsommerfest has been christianised a 1000 years ago and now it is called the fest of the John Baptist, although many still understand that there was a pagan origin.

And my US brothers please read about Finland:

There are less communist Marxist in Finland than in USA, 0,1% or something. The Leftist party(they say they are not communist) has about 8 % in parlament.

Genetically Finns are no closer to Eskimos than the Anglo-Saxons. Finns are as distant to Anglo-Saxon as Anglo-Saxons are for southern Europeans. Scandinavians are very close to Anglo-Saxons (Finns are not Scandinavians except Swedish speaking minority).

Short history of Finland: Independece in 1917 and 1918 Communist and Social democrat rebelled the majority and they lost bloodly for democrats.
1939 Soviet Union attacked us and they had 126000 dead Communist soon vs. 2500 Finnissh casulties resulting a short peace. 1941 Finland attacked to reclaim their property and a little more which resulted 200000 dead soviet vs. 63000 finnish casultie and this resulted a separate peace (not a surrender) and war with Germany.

I think that Lauri Törni (the US Colonel) was a marvelous fighter, but an idiot because he was leaving Finland with Nazi sub-marine with men who wanted to overthrow the finnish democratic government after the peace with the Soviets and a new war with Germany.

BTW I am going with my sons to Mooming world in Naantali in Sommer I do not see that an offense in any Christians way.

Fucking idiots... I live in Finland, and moomins are just cartoons for kids... yes, they were books first, but then japanese made them cartoons. I have watched them as a little kid. Yes, I am atheist. But no, I am not "linked in to a satan omg" cause of that. And there is no eskimos in finland. and no polar bears or iglus. And I listen to black metla and other heavy music... Im not a bad person still..

I think the Swedes probably gave them the idea; the finnish have never invented anything on their own and follow the lead of better nations like Sweden and Germany.

We can complain about democrats in America, but at least we aren't finnish, Praise God! What a wasteland.
