The way I see it, the problem isn't whether women should read; the problem is what women should read. A woman's ability to read can be a blessing just so long as her father or husband watches what she reads and keeps her from anything objectionable.

I am happy that my wife can read. But then, she is only allowed to read the Bible, Southern Living, and Crosswalk magazine.

The key is that a woman's reading material must carefully chosen and censored. I couldn't imagine the horror if instead of surprising me in the kitchen with some new recipe she found in Southern Living, my wife were to surprise me in the bedroom with some new sex technique she found in Cosmopolitan .

Yes I agree on somethings should be censored,, but she should be allowed to judge for herself,, she knows right from wrong,, she shouldnt be told what she can read or write, She is able to judge for herself......

I had this sort of problem only 6 months ago. I came home one night after a hard day of doing the Lord's work, only to find that my good wife had decided to surprise us in the kitchen. Yes, she had purchased a cookery book from a secular book shop, and attempted to cook us Japanese food. You can imagine the stink! Needless to say the book was burned, and all that raw fish filth put straight in the trash. I can only imagine the sort of poisoning we'd all have suffered (probably vomiting, nausea, stomach pains, diarrhea), had we ate that filthy Jap garbage.

It seems like you either don't know or don't care what the Bible has to say on the relationship between a woman and her husband.

I Peter 3:1-6
1 Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;

A wife must be in subjection to her husband.

2 While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.

When she speaks to her husband, her speech must be chaste and fearful.

3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

A meek spirit is a more attractive adornment than anything a wife could wear.

5 For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:
6 Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.

Sara obeyed her husband Abraham and called him lord. You would do well to emulate her.

Every week my husband, Mr. Whitford, has me write a report on what I've learned from the Bible that week. So I'm torn on this issue. Without women reading and writing, I wouldn't be saved. But without women reading and writing, our society wouldn't be falling apart with feminazis getting unnatural ideas in their heads and we wouldn't be facing the threat of another Clinton presidency.

1 Corinthians 14:34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law.
14:35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

1 Timothy 2:11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.


Which reminds me of some scripture that speaks to this very thread...

2 Timothy 3:6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
3:7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Some basic literacy is good, so as to be able to read the Bible and write about it when required, but beyond that just leads to silly women laden with sins, led away with diverse lusts (a more perfect description of feminazi bulldykes I've never heard).

A good Christian homemaker needs to be able to read, but I don't think she needs to write. It seems like we gals get into trouble when we start gabbing with our friends and such, so maybe we shouldn't know how to write. On the other hand, Elmer would give me a painful spanking if I was unable to read a recipe and keep him well fed.
