Re: Grand Theft Auto 4: Murder Simulator to be released on Tuesda
Hi there.
I will start off by putting this plainly and simply: I am a Christian.
And i will start off by saying this even simpler: Leave Grand Theft Auto alone.
You cannot say that those who play this series of games are sinners, as we are not commiting these acts in real life, we are simulating them.
Onto the violence. I'm going to bring up a few examples here; Saw series, Nightmare on Elm street series, Friday the 13th series.
These are movies. These are real people who appear to be harmed using CGI, and yet you are more bothered by a video game.
No one is making you play these games, and this goes to you, as well as Jack Thompson, and anyone else who is against these games.
And as for it affecting minors, it is the parents choice whether or not their children plays these games.
R* (Rockstar, creator and publisher of the Grand Theft Auto series) have brought thousands of hours of joy to their customers with games such as, Grand Theft Auto, The Warriors and Bully (or Canis Canem Edit).
It is not your, or anybody elses right to try and ban these games from the public domain. You simply have a different opinion to us in the GTA community.
You would do better to leave it alone, and never mention it, as you (the church as a whole) and others are simply giving yourself a bad name within the tens of millions of people who play and enjoy these games.
Look instead, at movies, violence in real life, not video games, how can you compare 3d moving images to walking up to someone and shooting them.
I've been playing these games since i was 14 and have never harmed anyone, nor thought about it.
The games cannot be blamed for any action taken by an individual, as at the end of the day, it is a game.
Yes, in the game you kill people.
Yes, in the game you can pay prostitutes for their services.
Yes, in the game you can kill policemen.
No, you cannot in real life, and playing a game will not affect this.
I hope you at least read this, and that it at least makes you understand that not everybody who plays these games are psychopaths and alike.
Thanks for reading,
Liam.
