If, in fact, it were a genuine reflection of our world today, it would be a real prophecy, wouldn't it?

How would they know that there would be a man with long hair and a beard 500 years later?

As it is, the image on the shroud is alleged by the Catlicks to be one of Christ. Now, we know that the Catlicks were excellent forgers, so they were not going to put an image on it that looked nothing like Jesus, were they?

    I could go on.
You do "go on"... and on... and on... (You're worse than Mrs Bathfire, and that's saying something!)

Just because it has some fancy Latin name, doesn't mean that Jesus didn't put that idea in our mind. If I were Jesus, I would see it as a bonus if people saw me and decided to become True Christians: I think we can say that 'pareidolia' is a gift from God.
    Do you have faith?
Well, that's a damn fool question! All Members of the Landover congregation are here because of their deep understanding of Jesus and would be lost without Him - what would we have to say? Do? He is central to Landover and us.

That's a quote from my last post. God does not want "thought" it seems
Well, look at it like this: you can spend hours and hours making a complicated meal, or you can go to Wal Mart and buy a meal ready made.

God is similar to Wal Mart: He does the hard work for you and you still end up with a meal - What's not to like?
but if I see a pop star in my oats how do I choose the Fake from the Real?

    No. Why should I think?

It's not surprising that human-shaped forms might be interpreted as religious figures, especially around the religious holidays. People see these images for the same reason that they see faces in clouds, Rorschach blots and coffee stains. This phenomenon, called pareidolia, is well known in psychology, and it is the cause of many supposedly mysterious and miraculous events (including the famous "Jesus in the Tortilla"). Whether the sightings are the result of a miracle or a mundane psychological process, they are welcomed by the faithful.
    Do you have faith?

That's a quote from my last post. God does not want "thought" it seems but if I see a pop star in my oats how do I choose the Fake from the Real? If I can see it, what's wrong with that?

What's wrong with you, boy? Do you think Jesus would go around putting faces of someone else on all those things?

The shroud's just like toast from this point of view.
Catlicks will always see forgeries and think they're true, especially of that whore, Mary. But this thread's not about catlick forgeries, it's about Jesus revealing Himself to us through everyday objects.

I see some African American version of the catlick Mary.
