Why? is because the Bible is not that easy to interpret. Phrases taken out of context can lead to error. For example, Apart from Jesus did anyone else ascend to heaven?
    • No (John 3:13)
    • Yes. And Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven (2 Kings 2:11)

So you rely on a bunch of rapist and ring kissers to interpret the Holy Text. Nevermind the heresy (you are claiming that God made rules that are difficutl to interpret, so people had to create an special group to interpret them), you are also claiming that God has chosen the worst kind of scum to be their voice on Earth.

So what happens when Catholic dogma and Bible are in contradiction? What to do there?

And more important: why do you keep derailing my thread with your papist nonsense?
1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the TRUMP of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first.

If everything the Catholic Church has taught in the past 2000 years is correct, then anytime that some Pope or other has corrected/altered/amended anything taught over the 2000 years, He has been correcting something that was correct in the first place.

Was the Church correct in burning people at the stake? Is that something they should be doing in these modern times? If it was sanctioned by the Church in the past, it should not present a problem today.

When I was a child, females had to wear headcoverings during mass and we couldn't eat meat on Fridays. But they changed that. Why was it important then, but not important now?
